  1. great post yoda, it's right on...i just look at it this way...the guy your sparring with isn't going to kill you and what dosn't kill you only makes you stronger
  2. thai boxing sounds fun, i just bjj right now, i'm kinda checking around for a stand up martial art basically just to get people on the ground.
  3. if you wanna learn military style fighting go talk with a marine corps recruiter near you.. perhaps he'd show you some hand to hand if he thought he'd get a recruit out of it...you don't have to be old enough to enlist.
  4. i am learning brazillian jiu jitsu our classes are two hours three days a week. first half hour or so is warmups. one hour learning and practicing techniques. the last half hour is all sparing.
  5. i study bjj but we still use the idea of "small circles" especially on smaller joints like the ankles.
  6. that and let's not forget about the ability to tap to, if the guy (or girl) is trying to hold them selves up with their arms (meaning they can't tap something) and they can't say "tap!" cause they are choking it's not cool just to let them go to sleep. i am sorry to say i nearly hurt someone bad the other day in a similar circumstance. i had him mounted...his right arm was in a kimura lock and his left arm was trapped under my body (though i didn't really notice at the time)...over his mouth...if i didn't interprate a barely audible, muffled noice as a cry for submission i can only imagine would woulda happened to his shoulder.
