  1. My favorite block of all time is still the fan block. Sure with Uchi Uke you can block and get to the outside, but it is harder to move up on the opponent. That is why I like fan block, because not only can you guide and move up you can guide, grab, move up, and ultimately leave them open to any attack you see fit to use, you can create a kizuchi(sp?) . Of course you can grab after guiding and do a sweep and throw them to the ground. That is why I like Fan Block.
  2. Awesome. And hello Sensei Baswell.
  3. If anyone anyone knows where I can get a copy of that Eugue Ryu book, i would love to know.
  4. Budo Kai Karate Club of Kansas City-Eugue Ryu Karate-Jutsu.
  5. It was good. I was very happy to be back. I spar with my friends at home. Some of them have taken Boxing, Wing Chun, Aikido, and even Eugue Ryu.
  6. Hello everyone. I have been busy lately and have missed alot of classes. Just started to go back again Monday. j.j. i would love to see that book. This is Rick. Thank you.
  7. It is sad, but sometimes it is unavoidable.
  8. The closest I have gotten to the void. I had been meditating for about an hour and out of nowhere I start to hear Native American Drum Music. It scared the crap out of me, so I snapped right out of it.
  9. Never heard of it.
  10. In Eugue Ryu, our Nidan is a black belt with 2 stripes, our Sandan is black with 3 stripes, Yondan block red/white belt, and Godan solid red.
  11. It takes at least 3 yrs. to get to Shodan in Eugue Ryu Karate-Jutsu, and then 4 more years to get to Nidan, and you only get these belts when the Sensei believes you are ready.
  12. I might be getting a bodygurd position pretty soon. They train you, and the pay is really good. $75 an hour.
  13. Never heard of it.
  14. When I spar I use very ligt foam gloves. But you can hit anywhere on the body. It is like being in a real fight, we go all out. As for training for combat, I live in a neighborhood where the crime rate is extremely high, and I have to train accordingly. I train in strategy, I look for different ways to escape if need be. Whether it is day or night, over here you always have to be on your guard. It is not just self defence, it is survival.
  15. I train for combat, not tournaments. I have Full - Contact sparring every other day.
  16. Great. I hope you and your son continue to grow along the Martial Path, and that you do as good in your next test.
  17. Sorry, 'bout that. Hope you pass next time.
  18. Yes, but i have to re-install it. It is TruthDstny.
  19. Yoshiji Soeno, nicknamed "the Tiger of Kyokushin", and founder of Shidokan Karate. In the 1970s, Soeno was the only warrior with the courage to challenge Reiba, the strongest Thai kickboxer in the world, and dubbed the "Dark Lord of Muay Thai."
  20. After Eugue Ryu I may have to take up Shotokan again. By the way, is Nahainchi Shodan done the same in Shotokan as it is in most styles?
  21. Yes, I wish you the best of luck and I hope your son passes his test.
  22. Yeah, makes sense. If you were sparring and your opponent came at you with a jumping front kick followed by a round house kick, what would you do?
