  1. I used to do research studies where they'd have to draw our blood like 30 times over 2 days... so good phlebotomists are much appreciated and yes bad one are quite feared!
  2. Yeh, I believe one REM cycle is around 90 min depending on the person.
  3. No, its not the same, but some people only need 5 or 6 so taking the nap wouldn't make much of a difference. Ideal is 7 hrs. http://thatshealthyliving.com/sleep.html
  4. You say your son is 17? Hehehe oh to be a teenager. They are moody, unpredictable, and often hopelessly in love. (I was one 5 years ago and feel old right at this second) I'm sure he has learned his lesson on his own. He just embarrassed himself in front of a girl he likes. I'd take it easy on him since its an easy mistake to move on from (as opposed to one that involves the police or credit cards).
  5. I think that it sounds like plenty, becasue in reality, they are not just learning drills and techniques, they are also learning how to move their body, how to pay attention to particular things, the terminology of everything, and how to not hurt someone in practice. All of those bits coupled with your curriculum seems to be plenty to me
  6. Yeh, it's really interesting to see all of this together! Also, I feel all special! Thanks, bushido_man96
  7. Drills don't always go the way you had planned as an instructor. There are drills that have been just fine in my Sunday class and practically dangerous on Monday. I hope all goes well and it was isolated!
  8. Good riddance- he was a boring fighter anyway.
  9. I'm pretty sure most people do randori in Judo, but in my school, it is just cooperative- if someone really starts to get a throw, you allow them to continue to practice the motions.
  10. Here also http://www.karateforums.com/need-ideas-for-kids-summer-camp-vt31625.html?highlight=games
  11. My piano teacher/AP bio teacher/quiz bowl coach always told me that for every mistake, when you are talking about muscle memory, you need to do it like 10 times correctly to erase it completely from your mind. I've never seen any articles or anything on this, but it seems to be enough
  12. Torn meniscus in my right knee, too It's lovely.
  13. You are officially my hero. Mind, my heroes include 456 people but you are somewhere around 'Gary Philmore' according to my list. Thanks NightOwl
  14. I have a bank of stuff that I can do pretty effectively and that come naturally, but at a given time you will notice that I have one old favorite, one new favorite, and one thing that I'm working on (to move up a notch ).
  15. What a fun thread A- Boxer sounds good B- I agree with Muy Thai, but only because I have particularly pansy-ish shins and they target those. C- Olympic-Style TKD if we are fighting mma rules D- In general, any mixed style like kajukenbo. Everytime you think you have them in one aspect, they can change.
  16. Yeh, just talk to the instructors about this.
  17. I'm a bit of an adrenalin-a-holic, and since I don't have the money right now for adventures in foreign jungles or skydiving, I walk around thinking... "You know... If someone in the world has to be attacked tonight, please let it be me." The only real fight-like thing that I've had was waiting in the New York Subway, and I had something in my hand and someone grabbed my wrist from behind, and I back-kicked him in the balls and took off. It was awesome. I know it sounds like I'm a 19-year-old boy instead of a girl in her mid-20's, but I'm just being honest here.
  18. Hehe, yeh, we have a ps2 which is fine, but I'm not a big video game person- i get bored just sitting there, so this is better for me Also... Harry Potter and DDR! (I know I'm kind of a kid)
  19. Yeh, we have some people without control in our group, but most of them are lower ranks. I'd definitely talk to her about it- just like, "hey, I like fighting with you, but do you think that you could work on your control? most people at our level are pretty good about it, so I'm sure that you can." or something.
  20. Personally, I'd choose Wing-Chun, just because there are lots of good TSD schools around, so it would be less likely a missed opportunity.
  21. hehe, good call kkennedy.
