  1. Yeah it really depends on what type of karate they take, okinawan karate systems condition their bodies so that they are not hurt as bad, also its not all about strength, its 50% tecnigue, and 50% strength, so it all depends really

  9. Oh yeah and with the creation of the belts and how they were clean, yeah totally wrong, the belt would start out as white, ther turn green from the grass, the when the grass all went away from trains so much they would train and the belt would turn brown from the dirt, then, after awhile, it would turn black , and thats how people got te belts
  10. Well yeah when there in a demonstration because they want to look nice, if there teaching there class there gonna wear a broke in gi, its feels cromfratable.
  11. Jussi, do you realize that in some systems to some masters to wash your belt would be an insult, i dont think you should wash your belt cause its not going to get "stinky" there is really no point to wash your belt, it gets all nice and comfatable when you dont and when you wash it it can kind of stiffen,
  12. sai, cause, although fans are cool, sai is a basic weapon and you can use some of the movements from sais can be used with the fan
  13. Chain whip, it is easier to use and sometimes more effective, plus if your on the street its easier to find a chain whip
  14. why did you let one fight get you down so much? there are going to be people that are better than you, theres nothing you can do about it but train harder
  15. yeah maybe if your bruce lee...
  16. and you take shorin ryu, how did you not know this?
  17. The sai was use for poking holes in the ground so that they could plant seeds, the comma was use to cut grain, and if yall didnt know...the bo was used for carreing buckets full of water, the tonfa was used as the handle on the well to bring up the bucket of water, the nunchucks where used as a rice flail, oh yeah i guess i did spell kama lol.
  18. both of them cause if you use just one your gonna get beat if they know what there doing but if they dont, attack would be better
  19. If the three guys attacked me. I'd punch one of the guys in throat, then an other. (and if they blocked i would go for a body shot and then get there throat.) And if the other guy doesnt run, i'd take out his knee. I'd then run to the guy getting mugged. I would kick on in the back of his knee and then kick him in the nose, (possibley breaking it.) I then would take the other guy and smash his knee out. Then of course i would call the cops.
  20. Yeah i dont think it does...
  21. A black belt is where the real training begins? that not how it goes, blackbelt is just a belt, but anyway, youll get stripes up untill you get 10 stripes or if your in an okinawan system at 8th (i think,) you'll get a red and white belt then at 10th you'll get a red belt.
  22. It is considered SOP that women and men spar each other, since usually there are not enough women in a karate club for they and the men to avoid each other. Also, a lot of instructor's feel that the self-defense aspect requires that you be able to face a man. However, it was never SOP in my karate club that women be injured because they sparred men. Injuries mean someone goofed somewhere, and some apologies and corrective action would be expected. Caveat: bruises are not "injuries" in a karate club. Anything that bleeds, bones that are broken, joints that are messed up, torn muscles - those are injuries. Bruises are "badges of honor." They are inevitable and cannot be avoided. I agree, it is stupid that women dont spar men in some classes anyway, its pointless cause there are a lot of things that they can learn from sparring men
  23. Punch them in the throat
  24. id go for the heavy weight if you have the money to spend but if you dont go for the light weight one
