  1. Stone temple pilots, the doors. led zepplin......
  2. Last nite at JKD was good because the instructor got us to hit, really hit, each other!!! With thai kicks, punches etc... to strengthen our threshold to being struck. Not matter how good you are, if you are not ready to take a few knocks, when you are hit, its a real shock!!! Most people quit after this training, but like training the attributes, its crucial to the development of the serious martial artist. After all, in a real fight, no punches are pulled!!!!! Maybe in point karate and stuff its not needed. Watching a kali demo before my class, we saw a full contact spar session....one guy had a massive lump on his arm from the sticks!! It was a real scrap!! Kind of shocking for a beginner like me but with the training i am getting, it should toughen me up!
  3. Didnt porperly introduce myself, busy posting first. How rude!! Im bruce flea and i am from the uk, I study JKD and use it too get fit, have fun and maybe learn things that could save my life if pushed. Great forum!
  4. JKD, the essance of all styles to finally become no style. Once you learn a language you are free to express yourself anyway you then choose.
  5. Any films with imitation bruce lees...game of death 2, bruce li, etc........
  6. Exercise, good combo of cardio and resistance, as in weights and bag work, plus eat and sleep well. No tricks, no quick fixes or abs in 3 days...patience and the cultivation of good practise. Its a life style thing. Once it becomes a chore or effort you have lost. Enjoy good living.
  7. You must have a death wish then. Fighting is horrible full stop. Im learning martial arts to get in shape and learn skills that maybe will save my skin one day. I dont learn to get into fights and take no joy in hurting anyone.
  8. I got beat up by six guys once, think the state of my face scared them off at the end!!
  9. Hey my first ever post!!!!! Im studying JKD at the moment. JKD is a concept not a style. It is based on the essance of many traditional and modern arts. It encourages self discovery and learning. It is fluid, elusive and street practical. You learn many rules until they become second nature, and only when you understand fully can you ever discard them. Many people misinterprate, style of no style by meaning, you can throw away anything, first you must research and THEN use what works for you. You can only break the rules by knowing WHY you are breaking them, for your own personal effectiveness. Im working on alot of boxing drills at the moment but the classes are always changing, grappling and kicking and so forth, its great fun and a great way to get in shape!!!
