  1. you say that is like asking someone to change. You may have a confrontational personality, but I bet that you have changed some physically and mentally since you began to train. Its the desire and patience to improve himself that truely defines a Martial Artsist.
  2. Most of the people that I know respect MA's. I find that they usually have a gienuine curiosity.
  3. It would be morally justified-someones life was in danger, and the robbers death was not intentional.
  4. Our style teaches that there are three levels to honor in self defense. The highest is to avoid trouble, the second is to have to talk your way out of it, and the last is to have to fight. By going out and saying something to the guy later, you could be escalating the situation, not something a martial artist should do.
  5. I think it can be difficult for olfer people to respect younger people who are put in leadership positions. If you have a confrontational attitude it will only make the problem more difficult. Let them see your skill through the course of normal workpouts and they will come to respect you.
  6. All of our stdents break boards at every test, and adult black belts break bricks. I think this shows an ability to preform a powerful on target technique and great preasure.
  7. I think if you ignore him it will go away.
  8. Maybe you could cross train on the other days to augment your TSD training.
  9. Also you could work on using fients to get them to open their defense then move in close. You should work on your footwork as well.
  10. In the World Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do Fed. there are a a handful of 9th Dans and one 10th Dan, Grandmaster Kim.
  11. I think that breaking is very important for martial artists. In my style we break at every test. Once you test for blackbelt you have to brteak bricks. I think it shows power, focus, and an ability to perform under presure.
  12. I think my favoirite is Oh Ship Sa Bo.
  13. I think it is an important consideration. Ettiquette is a part of the tradition of the martial arts. I always call my instructor Master or Sir, but part of that probably has to do with the fact that I was only 9 when I began to train.
  14. Our style is a comilation of hard and soft techniuques. I would say the split is 60% hard 40% soft.
  15. Congratulations, first tournament experiences can be very stressfull. Next time you will have even more experience to draw on.
  16. In my TSD school anyone can be a Black Belt, but you must be 21 to be Master
  17. http://www.karatetournaments.com/ is a great website to use.
  18. True, And I think that it would still be a situation where disturbing the peace and other legal issues could arize. I would seek out a few sanctioned full contact tournaments.
  19. I think your best bet is to use the front weapons to set up your oponant for the rear techniques. Also, it is possible to overwhelm your oponant with a flury of strikes rather than one single knockout blow.
  20. I agree the quality of Black Belt varies greatly. I would suggest not subscribing, but only buying it if a particular article interests you.
  21. Hi everyone, I am new to the forum. I have been studying Tang Soo Do for 18 years in the Indianapolis area. I look ford to good discusions.
  22. I agree if you ignore it, it should pass in time. I wouldn't bring it up unless he does.
