  1. Hey Garth, Welcome to Karate Forums. Cheers!
  2. Hey, Congratulations. Every step brings you closer to black belt. Keep training hard!
  3. Hey, If aerial techniques are what you are looking for I would try to find something with XMA. They have some pretty cool stuff.
  4. Hello, When I do heavy bag workouts, I use Everlast bag gloves along with the hand wraps. They work well.
  5. Hey everyone, I know Hee-ll Cho is a high-ranking figure in Tae Kwon Do. I believe he is 9th Degree, but I could be wrong. I read an article in Black Belt Magazine about him a while back.
  6. Hey everybody, I currently am only invovled in about 2 big tournaments a year with another tournament that is a bit smaller. I wouldn't mind maybe one more, but I believe too many tournaments will take away from your normal training.
  7. Hey, If you are going to cross-train, like many others have said, I would recommend Hapkido for a couple of reasons. For one, its grappling techniques would supplement the striking of your Tae Kwon Do. Secondly, Hapkido might be easier for you to adapt to since your are already in a Korean art and some of the language/principles might be similar. Good luck in your training!
  8. Hello, I also share the same obsession for my training. It really is quite addictive. At least I am not the only one that constantly is thinking about different Kata and other aspects of training.
  9. Hello, As Goju_boi said, the Sonny Chiba movies are classics. Movies like Street Fighter and Return of the Street Fighter have great fights. These movies also seemed to have slightly better storylines than their Chinese counterparts in that time.
  10. Howdy. I normally don't take anything but water. In fact, most of the time I just drink from the drinking fountain. Cheers.
  11. Hello, I am a member of shotokan karate under SKIF. Cheers.
  12. Howdy, Tai Chi and Chi Kung are both alike and different. They both focus on development of chi and jing (essence). I would say Tai Chi is more combat oriented. The Yang form in Tai Chi has many applicable movements for combat situations. Chi Kung, however, has excercises to build internal strength that would benefit you for combat, but it in itself really isn't used for fighting. Hope this helps. Cheers.
  13. Hey everyone. I believe that if you are capable of performing kihon, kata, and kumite at black belt level and if you have met the required time period to grade to black belt, then you are fully deservant of the black belt. Cheers.
  14. Hello. Welcome to Karate Forums.
  15. Hey Jane, welcome to Karate Forums. Cheers.
  16. Welcome to Karate Forums. Enjoy.
  17. Hello, As you can see, I have just also joined. Welcome aboard. Cheers.
  18. Hey everybody. I just thought I would introduce myself. I study Shotokan Karate and wrestling. I also enjoy performing Tai Chi and Chi Kung. I enjoy learning about all martial arts and I currently have many books on the subject. Well I'm glad that I'm finally a member. Cheers.
