  1. kata is karate i got an article i outline this in a bit.
  2. Sounds like a very good deal. Its about 30 a month here and half price for other family members.
  3. Just keep training. The more you do something the more natural it becomes for you. I tell my students to forget about what their eyes tell them and just feel the next attack. Yeah I know that sounds pretty far out but I think most will agree they do this.
  4. Depends on you and how far along you are in a given art.
  5. Fastball High and inside
  6. Just me and my lil bro playing arround with plastic bats but yeah they still hurt. You have to get inside and a jam the bat. Or keep your distance and block with another bat or weapon. Don't get caught in the middle zone.
  7. Right on Shorin Ryuu
  8. Welcome Always glad to see a new shotokan guy come in.
  9. Mr. Green Im just picking at you over out past conversations over kata. LOL. Glad you seen the light. LOL. No I do agree with you that if you want to fight you need to fight and not do kata. Its an aid not a replacement.
  10. Gojo is Hard Shorin is Soft Shotokan well Funakoshi trained in both and Shotokan has aspects of both so Shotokan is both hard and Soft. This is well outlined when you study the kata. Kata like the Heian's, Jittie, Bassai, are HARD. Kata like Empi, Chinttie, Unsa are soft. I won't say its a 50/50 split in Shotokan. I would say it is more hard than it is soft. But we do have a lot of soft moves. 60/40 hard to soft is a good guess IMO.
  11. H. Walker fromer NFL great RB with the Dallas Cowboys and other teams never lifted a weight but did 1000 push up's, 1000 set up's, ran 5 miles and did TKD training everyday to stay in shape. I don't know how long it took him to do all of this but he was maybe the best college player ever at UGA and played in the NFL for about 10 seasons.
  12. Be carefule what you ask for Shotokan fighter. LOL. First time I played with a MT fighter he introduced me to leg kicks very quickly. LOL. Although I lost I learned a lot.
  13. Not to get hit.
  14. Welcome
  15. Welcome
  16. Yeah it will. If taking ballet makes me more flexable and able to move then it should make me a better fighter. Thats just logic. It may not be the most cost effective way but to say its not useful is just not true.
  17. If you can make time for both why not.
  18. Mr Green we meet again LOL How can you say they are useful for learing ot move, relax, co-ordination, balance, and health in general but not be an aid that would make you a better fighter??? Thats like me telling my football team that weightlifting won't make you a better player. Weightlifting has nothing to do with playing the game of football but if your bigger, faster, stronger of course your going to be better. Right???
  19. If you are it is
  20. Me CanTakea Shot would be the best style in that case.
  21. I'll mach force for force reguardless of rance, creed, color, or sex.
  22. I really don't know why ANY one would feel it necessary to show their style is better. Thats not what MA is about. No disrespect ment towards Mas Oyama.
  23. I hate when I read this stuff about shotokan being so low. Yeah we work the low stance and yes its our trademark but we don't spar in it. I have a 1924 tape which anyone can buy in Century of Gichin Funakoshi teaching everything from basics to kata to sparring in a VERY high stance almost TKDish high. I really don't know where this misconception comes from except for we train low for power, speed, and balance.
  24. good luck
