  1. In Tekki Shodan the last move as you go left and the final move of the kata. Some may call it a hammer fist and short punch. Some may call it a throw. but one arm is out and the other is crossing your chest. This is the move after the last wave kick and hand strike. In Tekki Nidan you go right then come back left and do all the elbow and stuff then you step over and do the hammer fist thats the first Kiai. The last one is on the same move when you do it the other way the last move of the kata. The quick hand strikes In sandan make it fun I think. Again if I don't think or practice it for a while I get carried away and forget to move. LOL Mainly because I just get caught up in the quick snapping and moveing of the hands. I really don't know what my favorite kata is. There are still 6 I do not know yet. But Im sure Tekki Sandan will be in my top 3 or 4 when that time comes.
  2. That it won't work as good as a MMA for SD.
  3. I was and wish I still was. You learn a lot that way. Also means a lot if your the one chosen to demo stuff on. I honestly don't know anythng bad about it.
  4. Not much. LOL I don't like the show aspect of MA.
  5. Shotokan 2nd Dan Been doing it for 10 1/2 years.
  6. In Tekki Shodan they are on both Doulbe punches. In Tekki Nidan they are on both hammer strikes. In Tekki Sandan they are on the backfist just before you start moving back to the left. The other is on the last move. Tekki Shodan I love, Nidan I don't exactly have my timming down good on and Sandan is fun but I find myself going to fast. Sandan is prob my fav. of the 3 to do.
  7. Welcome
  8. O yeah you can't beat any of the Looney Toons. I was just going by the poll choices. The best Looney Toon IMO is Frog Horn Leg Horn. I say I say I say there now son.
  9. Well not in that fashion. Ill be Sub. teaching and Coaching Football, well were already 2 weeks into Football season. But still a week or so away from the start of school. My Teaching field is Social Studies but being 25 Im the low man when it comes to getting jobs so Ill prob end up subbing this fall. Thinking of going back to school in the spring but we will see when that time comes.
  10. Welcome
  11. Welcome
  12. GI Joe is the best. I love watching it still when it comes on Cartoon network. Transformers and He-Man were good to but nothing like GI Joe.
  13. Everything. Kata is what MA is all about. Exercise, Focus, Fighting Techinques, Balance, Breathing, Speed, Power, Relaxation, developing Ki. You name it you can find it in kata and better it by kata practice.
  14. Son Im in the Coal Fields of West By God Virginia so what do you think. LOL. Na I love it hear and will never leave but yeah were up in the mountians far away from the big city LOL
  15. Very nice article. I have faced these same issues with a few of my students in the past. I am a Christian but my personal beliefs do not enter the dojo. If a person wants to talk thats one thing but to force them into it is another. The Bow is the same as a handshake from my point of view. We keep eye contact and don't lower our heads in Shotokan. Their is a respect their from student to teacher just like th bible teaches a respect from son to father. Buddism IMO is very closely related to Christian beliefs. Yaeh I know they are vastly differant but these are the only 2 major faiths that preach tolerance, love thy neighbor, turn the other cheek, help your fellow man, all are qualities of a good Martial Artisit IMO. I have been asked about Meditation before and I answer it this way if you want to pray by all means pray I may cut you short but go for it. If you want to set there and think about the fly in miror fine by me, if you want to clear your mind and breath thats what we want but all are accepted. The point is you will follow the rules and getting on your knees helps us control our pride even if it for meditation. Humble yourself before training just like you humble yourself before God. As far as the fighting goes its like this. In the Old Testemnet God was a pretty mean guy when he had to be. Just like a true Martial Artist should be. Walk away, give another chance, ignore, but at some point when your pushed to far you must cast judgement. Thy will be done. Again I really enjoyed reading it good post.
  16. I guess they moved or got rid of your other into post. So Welcome again Rusty.
  17. When none of this works just block it a few times with your elbow and it won't snap out as fast. LOL
  18. LOL this you are my friend. In fact I know of NO one who is more traditional than this man. Gichin Funakoshi himself would take a back seat to your leval of training. LOL
  19. Read the first post in this thread. Simply stated he belives in his art and knows where it is weak and strong. Its not the weapon you use is the person who is using that weapon.
  20. Kata can help anyone in any style.
  21. Missed you ole pal
  22. Throw the book at them. Espically if you know without a shadow of a doubt they did it. In cases that are so so maybe not but with DNA today for rape and murder I say Life or Death let them choose.
  23. I talk to them a lot and get them thinking. I don't mean trash talk just ask how they are doing and whats going on the world.
  24. Not seen him in a few days.
