  1. And he adopted that right out of traditional kung fu (and later on traditional karate) training methods. You know, his force was connected espessially with his hard training... but he was well aware of how man could connect the physics laws with spirit will. Because of his hard emotional work he fell apart Interesting, i dont know alot about this subject but what do you mean he fell apart?
  2. Well sometimes ill get someone to put a belt around my waist and and ill move around the floor while they try to pull in the other direction. Its hard to explain but thats the best explanation of that exercise i can think of.
  3. I agree with you Jiffy, however i do assume confidence in myself.
  4. Thats really unfortunate, sorry to hear that. I have a friend who when his hamster died, he was completely crushed for months(i think hes still sad about it after years).
  5. Welcome
  6. I think there are close minded practitioners who tend to critise things they dont like, the only tension i see is usually in history arguments.
  7. Ha - good one. I know from HS American football = there were like benchwarmers who would scuff their helmets for the appearance to look like hitters, but only they really had splinters in their pants seats. Tokaido thick cotton (non-satin finish) long last ... tough, good wear ... razors may not work -- belts should last, no washing, hang dry in sun, and encourage everyone to maintain same waist size - or you eating more than getting a good workout. Osu. TS HAHA, I play football for my high school, and one game i just wasnt performing...so when i got to get a drink i managed to get some dirt on my helmet and Jersey:). I guess im not the creative genius i thought i was.
  8. Id go with Judo generaly, mainly because i think theyd end the fight faster. Also because they concentrate on more than one opponent(from my knowledge).
  9. Any art that gains popularity gains mcdojos, and critism. I dont mind anymore, but your right shotokan does get quite a bit of critque.
  10. Hmm all very good points here i agreee with. For the poll id go with speed, but for my own opinion id say technique. With technique, speed and power should develop.
  11. Hello
  12. Right and i think the art can change the person. Thats why i think lineage has some importance in MA.
  13. Very in-depth, gave me something to think about. Well done.
  14. Good job then
  15. Wow sounds fun actually, how long/far are you required to run?
  16. Good luck with getting back into condition, i always find if i stop training my body aches.
  17. Well said, the book you mentioned sounds interesting.
  18. We just wear plain white with the belt accordingly. When i first started karate i really wanted a black gi or something i would look cool in. Now i prefer the gi i have now for some unknown reason to me.
  19. Just make sure to use the correct body connection, i think your punch will follow.
  20. no, i agree with the concept completely. I think his thoery of wax on and wax off is great , however i feel people who dont take MA try to be annoying and always say that saying again and again making fun of MA philosophy, i dunno how you would mix my message up...but maybe the average public would choose some other saying, if that never came up.
  21. Well one thing i remember the most is how karate actually hindered my football training. Whenever we did drills and stuff, my posture was always up straight, when i was supposed to be bended over. Little things like that really made things difficult to adapt to. Other than that, karate has helped me in everything one way or another.
