  3. Happy New Year to you and everyone on the forum Oh, and stay safe
  4. Welcome!!
  5. It would make a good edged weapon, especially for attacking soft tissue. The eyes, neck, throat just to name a few. It's amazing the things that are found in a local jail/State institution that the inmates turn into weapons, so the idea of the p38 can opener as a weapon dosen't come as a surprise.
  6. I had the opportunity to take one of their gun seminars. I thought it was good. The defense movements were simple and easy to retain. The seminar in itself was pretty intense. That has been my only experience with that art.

  9. Hello and Welcome!! Good luck in your training
  10. Did you all get what you wished for? And if so what were some of the things you got, martial arts related of not? Only if you don't mind sharing For me, the only martial arts related gift this year was the "New Gladiators" DVD that was a project between Ed Parker and Elvis Presley. Showed the top karate tounament fighters back in the 70's. Kinda nice for historical purposes. Didn't have much of Ed Parker and non of Elvis. Other stuff was a new pair of shoes and some clothes, nothing exciting this year. Ok, who's next??

  15. Confirm your information about this person and his claim of being a black belt back to your club. Talk to the Parks and Rec people or to some of his students to confirm your suspicions. After that meet with the Parks and Rec folks, as well as the person in question and discuss the issue. Paying him a visit with the insturctors of your school is not the best way to approach it, at least in my opinion.
  16. Hmm...not sure. Never actually clocked myself
  17. Hey Laurie: Keep them at your kicking range. Although I would suspect that they will set up their punching attacks with kicks first. If that happens, try to counter punch them using a basic punching technique like the reverse punch. Throw some kick combos to keep their hands occupied with blocking before punching. Work your angles when throwing your kicks too. Hope this helps out some. As far as power, your speed will generate your power. Good luck
  18. Welcome Aboard!!
  19. Kenpo 123, nice to see another Kenpo stylist on board, Welcome!!
  20. If you do a general search on the net American Kenpo, you'll get a lot of hits for the various organizations that teach AK. From there, you can see where all the affiliate schools are located.
