  1. greetings, my name is mike; i'm 18 and from north jersey. i've been coming to these boards the last couple of months as i was deciding what style of martial arts i would like to practice. after alot of thinking, i chose bjj and will have my first lesson next week, thanks for the answers to my questions and to everyone in general for sharing their ideas and knowledge all across the boards,
  2. hey, i'll be starting bjj soon, i was wondering if you could give me some good training that i could do before beginning (for example-jogging or sprinting) so i show up in shape...also, what can i expect at the first couple of classes? any tips or advice? thanks p.s.--three60roundhouse, i saw you train bjj in new jersey, what school if u dont' mind me asking? i will be training in emerson. thanks
  3. hey, i'm thinking of starting martial arts and was looking for a good school in terms of self defense, getting a good workout, and just a good style in general....any of you east coast guys ever try tiger schulmann's?? is it a respectable style...supposedly it contains elements of karate, kick boxing, and submission wrestling...
