  1. clarence might have a point, the more dense and object is the easyer it is to see, now obviously a brick is more dense then smoke or water, so maybe people concentrate on gaining mass when manipulating ki instead of density???
  2. yeah, i have about 3 years of experiance with katana practice, but your somewhat right, now, if someone were to use centrifugal force with the katana, same as musashi, it wouldnt be that big of a problem, the buckler suggestion was more like a blocking rather then parrying also, for fighting multiple opponents or in a battlefield situation, cut onedown and you wont have enough time to swing it arround and cut the one behind you, that means you can block with the buckler and swing the sword towards the back cutting for the feet or thighs, maybe even the waist
  3. all energy is mearly bioelecricity that varies in vibrations making it apear to be different energy, its not proven but thats a pretty good theory, at least i think so
  4. im a little wierded out here, people say you cant make weapons styles without being taught by a qualified instructor, well how about miyamoto musashi? he made his own style without being taught any and he was, IMHO the best or one of the best, i mean, 73 i think it was victories with no defeats, thats quite a record, so why cant people make thier own styles with no former training like he did?
  5. that realy depends on the style there using, it could be a one or two handed style, it also can depend on personal preferance, i tend to use it with both my hands and one handed, sometimes switching back and fourth
  6. well, its realy a matter of personal preferance and how good you would be with it, for me, one of three things... 1) a buckler, nice small shield with good speed and doesent hinder you using your left hand for the katana, my favorite chioce. 2) a wakizashi, traditional or 2) a kama, ive done katana forms with the kama, it looks kool and it makes you a sort of whirlwind of blades ^_^
  7. you CAN charge your hand/palm/feet/shin or whatever with energy however it wont do a GREAT ammount of damage untill youve been doing it for a while, dtstiachi is also right, you can still force it but will it there instead of say, tensing it, tensing it will inhibit the chi flow, and do alot of zang zhuang training for that ^_^
  8. ive seen some videos of 'remote knockouts' one was a kiai wich we know is real and then two others just had the guy putting his hands up to the other guy and he fell... i dont know weather it was a hoax or not but you can decide for yourselves, dan (A.K.A. Thread's of Fate) has them, ill try and get him to post them later...
  9. you know, i dont even remember, i guess jackie chan and bruce lee started it all, i was about 5 or 6 i guess

  12. ive heard of it, they have canes designed specificly for it too, but i dont know how effective it would be
  13. hahahaha
  14. definatley steel weapons, i prefer thier (please excuse the terminology) feel to a wooden sword, theres something that just doesent feel right about a wooden sword, it could be that the katana just feels better though
  15. thanks for the warm welcomes guys and gals! ^_^
  16. i dunno, the first time i wore a mouthgaurd it wasnt too uncomfortable, although it was flavored... i actualy kept it in for a while
