  2. Again, thearma.org if you haven't
  3. Hapkido throws, while very similar to many aikido throws, are actually closer to Japanese Jiu-jitsu throws. What this means is that the throws are usually less forgiving than aikido throws. Hapkido throws emphasize arcs, whereas aikido throws emphasize circles.
  4. I'd also like to know if my ideas help you.
  5. I'm very proud of my recent innovation: When I do a crunch, I triangle my legs. Next crunch, I triangle them the opposite way. It makes the crunches harder and helps you practice the triangle choke movement. I also do upas, shrimping, etc. Also, I practice lifting my heavy bag as if I'm lifting an opponent from double underhooks. This helps develope motor skills and functional strength. Another thing I do is hand my heavy bag low, so it's about a foot off the ground. I shoot in just like I would against an opponent, drive through, and lift the bag. I'm interested to hear what others do.

We usually set up our locks with strikes, and even Wing Chun style trapping if needed. Of course, this is combat hapkido, which is a far cry from traditional.

Here's some good starting points: http://www.wanderworks.com/chilichokers/combatives_toc.htm http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/policy/army/fm/3-25-150/ Please be responsible. This stuff is not for messing around.

  22. I don't do any kind of stylized chi magic meditation mumbo jumbo. BUT If you concentrate on your breathing, clear your mind of all things except your objective, and SEE what you want to happen, it does help. Even special forces do this.

  24. I think it's important to distiguish between sport and true fencing (thearma.org)
