No, it always matters. Whether it works for or against you is based on the situatuion, but size always matters. -
I meant compared to stick, gun, or knife.

This is a serious question: Why would you fight with a fan?

FULL CONTACT JIU JUTSU

Well, there are plenty of TKD bb's that have been training about as long as a BJJ white belt, right? -
I think I heard that story, but I can't think of an agricultural use for a car antennae...

Tell me about JKD
UseoForce replied to ShotokanKid's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
By default, JKD is what works. If it doesn't work, its not JKD. Having said that, there are multiple solutions to any given problem, so JKD can define any number of separate "solutions," if you will. -

YES! BUY IT! I've had mine for about year now, and I still love it! It definitely puts you in the right mindset and outlook for practcing combative MA. -

Love to see it happen... -
Actually, tons of people have talked about self awareness. In fact, I started posting on this thread because some people seemed to think the self awareness alone is an acceptable form of SD. Not to say it isn't important, but I get tired of hearing "I carry my brain..." Anyway, about my post, that was just an example. What's to say that when you see an armed attacker approaching on the street you can't seek cover, draw and cock (There I go again...) your weapon? But anyway, I respect where your coming from. Now we're debating prett finite stuff. All I'm saying is this: Respect second amend. Recognize if you are skilled and armed, your chances of surving are greater. Better to have and not need than need and not have.

LoL, okay... We were teaching a SD class and I was choking him from behind. He was showing a number of options to "soften up" the aggressor before breaking free. Biting is a good one. When you feel that tearing pain in your arm, suddenly, holding on doesn't seem like such a pleasant option anymore. -
This is not a bash against traditional MA. I'm just trying to see how people feel about the forms they do and why they do them.

MMA or blended style (Combat Hapkido, Krav Maga) is usually best. The most important factor is that you actually practice real sparring and conflict.

So how long have you been waiting to use those smiley's... -
Unless your weapon is drawn, too. Say, for example, someone breaks into your house and you retreat to your bedroom (as more than a few true tales go), you could have your weapon drawn and at the ready. Anyway, I think we agree for the most part, and I'm really not interested in debating individual situations and such. Just as long as the 2nd Amendment is properly respected .

kamas are good if you are attacked while harvesting grain...
