I would ask this on a DVD forum, but i wanna try my luck out here first. The problem is my dad has a laptop that has a DVD-R and it wont read or even open my Blank DVD. All that happens is the drive light blinks and thats it. I guess he wants to format it to be able to write music onto it so he can play them on his fancy mp3 cd player (the ones that compile alot of music on them as opposed to regular cds) Is it even possible to listen to listen to a dvd disk in mp3 format on a mp3 cd player. He says he can listen to them on his DVD player but w/e hes weird, advice would be much appreciated thanks.

My little brother got beaten today

Everyone's standpoint on this issue is determined on life experiences, morals, and the way you were brought up. Personally i would of let it go so long as they dont go for head shots. True he is 10 but so much more goes on while your not around. As far as cheering for him i dont think that woulda been the best idea i would have gave him a few pointers but cheering just lets him know you support him (in this case in a fight) this may lead to future conflicts, but have a talk with him afterward. If there is anything you should have learned from taking kyokushin karate it should be to apply the things you learned from class to real life situations (bro's fight). Hopefully neither of them got too hurt but just make sure he doesnt turn up to be a trouble maker. -
This was previously on another thread but it was just a tribue to Muy thai ppl. I was wondering if anyone can tell me who this Thai boxer is, i tried looking on line but im not familiar with the muy thai sites and googling doesnt help when you have no idea what his name is. Yea i guess you guys are right, it doesnt really matter when you start so long as you put your mind to it at any age, there is always the physical factor but my body will adapt even if i am 18, Thank all of you guys for your support. -
Is it possible to be a great martial artists at such a late age? I know i may be looking at this from a negative view but i look at young kids who start out at 5-6 at MA (from Shaolin to XMA) and i get a little discouraged. I hear that almost everything is greater when you learn it as a kid and sorta adapted to that saying. Dont worry im not going to stop in my training in hopes of being "great" (not for fame or fortune) but more along the lines of self greatness. Just looking for other peoples opinions.

Siufeifei i want to say darn your search bar!! Nice little trick there, and yes i agree with what you had to say. The axe gang some say is based off the Matrix with the many smiths but ive seen a similar seen in Jackie Chan's Drunken Master. Of course the signiture Bruce Lee knuckle crack nose flick. -
Oh my goodness, you are one of the luckiest people i know. To get free taekwondo classes from a church what a heavenly blessing. This sorta parallels to a shaolin type teaching. Church is to Shaolin monastary as you are to monk? Haha well i tried but you shoulda looked into those free church lessons 1st!

Yep you got it right on the dot, so your basically hitting them with the outside of you leg? Not the calf not the shin but the outside of your legs. How do you set up for this kick my instructor said to chamber it like a knee attack then roundhouse and turn your hip in. It seems easier if you just swing your leg. Also is this kick more powerful/effective than a regular roundhouse that strikes with the shin? thanks for the reply and my training is alot more organized b/c of your advice ty elbows.

Well said bleeding lion, well said.

My instructor went through some basic kicks that we could choose and pick from and ive seen this thai kick before and it definitely impresses me. The best description i can give is it looks like a perfect horizontal roundhouse kick but much more powerful b/c it seems to take everyones legs out when ive seen it done. If anyone can find a link or even describe it for me so i can just practice the motion i would much appreciate it ty.

Ok i have many ideas i have extracted from my books, the internet and videos. I would like to devise a type of exercise/training schedule that incorporates many of these concepts but i just dont know where to start. In the past my only true workout routine was during wrestling season where we would: stretch for 10-15 minutes jog/sprint around our track for 20-30 min drill a series of shots for 10 min learn knew or solidify old techniques for 15-20 min live wrestle for 20 min condition for 15-20 min that was basically our practice minus all the detail. Now i would like to devise a routine that consists of: stretching (more for flexibility b/c i would like to increase my flexibility i.e. splits and high kicks) plyometrics weight training some basic shaolin drills (punching at a post, horse stance) practice kicking and punching speed/posture endurance (skip roping, jogging, sprinting) those are just a few ideas can anyone give me any tips on how to compile these? Also compare and contrasts some things you train. Like i said i am a bit confused maybe im trying to do too many things but ive tried doing different workouts on different days and i just dont know how to work every part of my body and utilize each type of training at the same time. Ty for your time. ~Peter

No No i think your on to something Skeptic 2004, are you a psychologist? Because that is pretty accurate ive heard/seen documentaries on things like that. For example if you cut yourself it doesnt start hurting until you see it, and other matters like that.

Nice, thats pretty complex. I personally have never dived into the world of other languages besides english and spanish. Welcome to the forums

Hey welcome to the forums. Thats great that you have a neighbor that teaches you, do you get free private lessons?

You lucky lucky individual. As i speak im itching my many bug bites. Ive heard of some myths about that nothing fact based as they are myths. I heard that asians may be immune to it if they have fish as an every day supplement. Im sure you can find something offline just by googling in anything that has to do with the anatomy of a mosquito. *itch *itch

Ah, well at least your educated but can you elaborate on the "martyr syndrome" I dont think Bruce died to relieve anyone from sin or on purpose for any higher meaning (i could be wrong). Non the less people would still lolly-gag over him dead or alive the man was amazing. How far can we really stretch the whole "he didn't create anything new he got it off a previous system". If you think about it everything is based off another thing. With the Shaolin it was off of animal forms and movements, im no expert but to some extent everything is relative boxing to kickboxing and wrestling to bjj. I may be ranting, and im not trying to solidify the fact that Bruce was "god" b/c there are some narrow minded people when it comes to Bruce Lee and other things; but the man was great to be discrete and to say all he did was "repackage" a bunch of ideas and techniques is an understatement without careful analysis.
