TKD Testings
frightmaster replied to bushido_man96's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
It realy is a great idea. At times they ask the color belts how did they learn, say an inside block, and they will tell them. Then explain that it is done like that to make it easy to learn it. For the BB test they took it to the next level or to the "how would yo teach it" level. Very well done. Oh and Thank You. -
TKD Testings
frightmaster replied to bushido_man96's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Well I tested and received my Black Belt a couple weeks ago. Thank you. The test was much diferent then my color belt tests. We had various different sparring matches. Different byu ways of multiple attackers. We did a lot of forms and 1 step sparring and some wood breaking. The breaking was designed to be instructional. We had to explain the break as well as the proper technique to be used. This I found was to show how one can instruct. The final test was a garden block break with hand/palm. All black Belts must do this as a demo of proper technique. 2 of the 3 of us did it on the first try (I was 1 of those). The 3rd had to try twice, which I think is harder becasue the second try your hand HURTS. smile -

Well I made it. I receivd my Black Belt this past weekend. Was a toung test and the masters took is a little easy on me. One commented that I passed prior to testing for all I have done (assistin with teaching and such). I felt good about the test and am a very happy person for my decision to go through with the test. -
Health and Testing
frightmaster replied to frightmaster's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Woth my breathing issue I get extremely exhausted with about a flight of stairs. When I say extreme, I look like I ran a marathon. My muscles are achy and joints are sore. Taking the breaks will help but not for long. I will do what I can but my health is my worry. If I were to go to far then what gets damaged? That is my only worry. -

Well my update.....I spoke to my master and he has assured me not to worry. HE knows my limitation and assured me I will walk out a Black Belt. He told me I basically achieved it already because of demostrated abilities and attitude towards helping others. I am still going through with the test and will push myself as I would normally. Cathal, I do meditate already and am a positive person. I do believe in the power of the mind and I will demonstrate Indombinable Spirit and perserverence (to early to spell). Thanks for the help. -
Health and Testing

The problem is I know I have a virul infection in my small air vessals in my lungs. Most likely due to a mold exposure. It will take a long time to pass if it does at all. The medical name is Obstructive Bronceolitis. Spelling is not correct. -
Ok here is my issue....I was informed that my Black Belt test for 1st Dan is Feb 17th. I am excited and scared. I am only scared because I have not been training hard due to extreme Asthma conditions which are uncontrolled. My Master informs me not to worry. My breathing is so bad that I am doubled over just going up 1 flight of stairs. Does anyone have any advise I can do to mentally get this out of my head? I really do want to test as I was to last Feb and was passed over due to school politics.

Very impressive.

red belt problem
frightmaster replied to mcmillintkd's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
The dobak should be washed. I never smelled a bad belt. I just believe if you wash it you wash the knowledge away (I know it doesn't). -

I like to see/do slow movements. for example a high round kick and hold if then go to a slow power move. Much like what would be in the higher taeguk forms. -

Well I met with the highest ranking master in my school Saturday and he asked why I did not talk to him. I replied simply that I had NO problem with him. My problem was with my instructor and the oner of the schools. All is worked out and I am now under the Owner/Master of the school. -
Have a question about Sa Jang
frightmaster replied to cnada's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I just went through my forms during lunch and founfd I was incorrect. The backstance is introduced during Taeguk 3. My bad. -

Also aside from the previously mentioned differences there is also the inclusion of the back stance in this form. Other then that I think you learned a lot by looking for the differences. I am sure it helped you with the first 3 forms already. -

I will do what I can to protect the art. Not saying it is perfect. Only saying we all can help. As a favor to the owner I am delaying my BB test to train a new student who will be testing in Feb. -

I feel I do and I feel I have a lot less pressure on my shoulders going into the test. I fully accept the thought that Iwill get out of my BB test what I put in. I just feel the integrity of the school is affected by rushing students through. -
Sparring Techniques questions
frightmaster replied to bushido_man96's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Keep in mind that the most dangerous person to fight is a white belt. They do not know how to control. With that being said I will still teach them at white but stress control. Make sure it is not free sparring. also make sure the kicks are up as well. -

Well the saga continues. I met with the school owner and explained what is happening. HE was totally unaware what is going on and is now in the loop. He did understand my concerns and told me that he is not loosing me as a student. He gave me an open invatition to train at any of his school free of charge till I obtain my BB. I am very honored by his understanding and his offer. -

I rather not go through a university school as the cost will be very high if I would be allowed at all. Looking into going over to ITF. -
Which form system do you prefer?
frightmaster replied to bushido_man96's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
OK. I am a WTF TKD artist and went to an ITF school to see about changing. I got to see first hand the sign wave move. WOW. Looks good but not sure it helps with power. -

From my WTF School I belonged to we only needed to know the Tae Guk forms. I wanted to learn the Palgwes but my master would not teach them.
