  1. Okay, Will do. I'll be sure to add bike riding long distances to my list ^^.
  2. I usually like sparing the big guys. I got 18 feet of ring to run them around. And boy do I use every inch. Your typical big guy will wear out before you do. This is how we were taught and how I beleive. The head is the only thing you worrie about, get that confused and you'll have an easy match and to this day ouur competition teams fight over the big guys, and the big guys laugh and then get thrown around and lose . JUst make them get tired and dizzy maybe and you're set.
  3. Clarifying a few things. I have been going for about a year and a half off and on. 500 of his style push ups on in the course of 5 hours. I have a bag set that I do my round houses, snap kicks, side kicks ect on. This is included on my routine. And the push ups acctualy work everything equally or very close to it. He wouldnt tell us to do anything that would cuase harm. In no way am i trying to be just like him. He did alot more reps. I cut it back form what he did to fit my current fitness. Now that that's clarified any other comments? My legs get worked by my stretches and my kicking techniques. ~Thanks ~Ryokeen
  4. Also on a note I use sunday as my day of rest and wednessday I'll do half of the usuall. These are church days and I am a christian and Church comes before ANY martial art. So yes I'll have rest days And If I'm to soar obviously I'm not gonna go tear anyhting just to get good because what's the point if I'm just gonna be in a cast XD.
  5. Starting november our school is going to reopen to the public, along with this we want to make a big entrance. We are encouraged, if it is in our hearts to do so, to train for tournements. I feel I really want to compete on our team, and well frankly winning or help winning would be a nice effect . This is what I was suggested I do. I just wanted some of your feedback. My sensei is a 9th dan and went 11 years before he lost. I don't doubt him at all, I just want outside thoughts . Daily: Streatches(such as the chinese streatches, cheerleader splits, basic streatches and any other streatch we are confortable with.) Also I chose to do 500 Knee push ups, now these arent your normal push ups. You start in a horse stance place your hands in a triangle and scootch your hands up as far as you can and go down and forward then back so you're on your tippy toes then down again flatfoot back to tippy toes. I will also do 20 to 50 of those the "right" way daily. And of course work on my technique. Monday, tuesday, wednessday, thursday:Class. Need I say more? XD Yes I know I'll be soar, and yes I know it'll be hard on ym body at first. If my sensei could take double that at my age then I WILL take half of what he did untill I am older and my body is done growing. I am 15 BTW. Yes I'm a whitebelt, And yes I'm 100% willing to go through with it. I just wanted your oppinions thanks . Aaron.
  6. Personally I have to much wieght. My GI, like most are very well made, nothing cool gets in and I need to sweat. Infact Even in the 90.00 weather we have I still wear it. I am just now getting serious about my martial arts. Back to topic, so YES I have to be in my Gi, it'd feal wrong if I wasn't.
  7. Yep preety regular. If you think that's bad imaginebeing a 15 year old Guy okay. Now Imagine you sparring with the next to top blackbelt of your school. KNowing that if you hit her anywhere below the waist, he'lll do the same thing to you. Yah I think my sensei only did that to work on my kicks being higher but still, the thought of that scared me to death. XD But yes, segrigation here would be totaly uncalled for in my honest opinion.
  8. They didn't master the art. They have mastered the basics, how ever I don't really know how a 6 or 7 year old could fully understand the meaning of a black belt, however it is possible. I personally beleive it takes years to become a blackbelt, atleast 5, and many many more years to become good.
  9. I had this issue at first too, infact I still do when it comes to sparring... anyways. For the kata issue I just thought to my self just this: " If I screw up and fall down, or mess up my roundhouse that's a good thing. They will notice and show me how to correct it." It worked for me. But I am still needing help on the sparring so.... I guess I need help similar to this too, but I hope I helped some what! Ryokeen
  10. Look my sensei does private lessons now. Everyone thought his school died out. No he sold it... to invest in his new..more hardcore private lessons. Anywas my point is that there could be private lessons you don't know about. I'd do the local check on google. GO to local under google, the rest is self explainitory. Now if you can't find one. I am sure some one will know better than I do about your MA, but I am thinking there's atleast 2 similar...but don't hold me to it.

Letting people in on it is either the worst or the best thing. It either hurts you or helps you. For me it helped me. Last year I got picked on, that was the main reason I joined. Then I realised I loved it and got good. The only other martial artists at my school are feared. One's taken down his 2nd dan sensei. And the other's been a blackbelt for two years and wins many local tournements. So the fact my secret was let out acctually helped me there. The only person who asks me to show them moves likes being thrown around, so before science you usually see him in a corner XD. Luckily no one ever noticed our quick sparing sessions XD. It depends on your situation for most people. Keep low key. Hope I helped! Oh and if you can't handle some huge dude trying to beat your face in, well it's not a good idea to let the secret out.XD
  12. We are taught a fine mixture of Tae Kwon Do, Shorin-Ryu Karate, and Aikido. Aikido for the tossing, and two striking arts, for the most part. He used a term for it once, but only once in 8 months. If anyone knows the propper name for that please let me know. He's a 9th Dan Blackbelt. Some of you may have even heard of him his daughter or his best student. Jacques Tarr ((daughters name I forgotXD)Tarr((Won a world championship)) And Jason Farnsworth. Just seeing if anyone has ever heard of them and if there's a propper name to the art mixture I study.
  13. I agree I lvoe listening to screamo/emo/punk music whilst doing my basics.
  14. I myself am A whitebelt. After 8 months I am still a whitebelt. I am really strgulling with injuring people in sparring. I still receive advanced training for higher belts (yellow and somewhat higher), but when it comes to sparring I throw my technique, my speedn and accuracy away and just let them have a hayday on me.(( Any tips on this would rock thanks.)) Just thought I would throw this in there because it's quit and accomplishment. 1Year ago or so my Sensei got his 9th dan blackbelt. And about 7 months ago his daughter won the world championship at 18.
  15. Anerobics is what XD? How do I work on speed and agility?
  16. Monday- Work on the basics, 3 sets of 20( Jumping jacks, pushups, crunches from left ro tight then back down. Slow beneficial onces. ) The basics consist of 50 round houses, 50 axe kicks, 50 cresent kicks, 50 forward kicks on both legs. 100 of each punch, backhand reversal Punches and backfist reversals. All my blocks. Tuesday- Karate I push my self in there, hard.. Very... We usually go for either 30 mins of sparing with the bassics or 1000+ kicks. Wednessday-Church, so maybe just running for about 1hour or so. Thursday- I really push my self to the limits here. Afterclass work, I'm dedicated, although I take church days off. God's more important to me. Friday- If I am not totaly dead, Mondays scedual cut in half. Saturday- Mondays scedual, with kata... Dreaded Kata XD. I only know 2 forms so tis not yet my favorite thing but I am learning to like it ^^. I need a good diet to go with the above. I am starting out light again. But that's good. Oh and I say 50 fo each kick, by that I mean well exicuted. It could be well voer 100 before I get 50 good ones in ^^. Thanks Ryokeen
  17. You don't need to be muscular if you have that much speed XD. I don't rely on my muscle because well... I really don't have much. But my speed makes up drastically for it.
  18. I don't see why people do such wierd training sceduals. I just do 4-5 sets of 25: Pushups Jumping Jacks Sit ups Crunches from left to right repeat 5 times XD Then I go on with my Kicks Punches bloacks and other techniques. I mean what's the point of being oh so strong and not putting alot fo effort into your techiniques? I don't get poeple like you...XD
  19. Unless sitting infront of the computer all hours of the day is uh athletic then no I had none. Yet I am the fastest learner and progressor in class^^. I push my self further then I should and as a result of my hard efforts I get better quicker. It has nothing to do with yourbackground in my oppinion^^. It's how hard you're willing to work.
  20. Any suggestions? Or am i doing the right things?
  21. Forms and Sparring are my true loves^^. Kata's= Awesome. Well I hope you had fun, I hope I do good in the upcoming tournement in June ^^.
  22. Well I have allready gotten into better shape then when I left the dojo, so now that that is the way I need to get back into the karate mode of things. I left a while ago for several reasons, none of which were very good. I miss the dojo, I don't know my I left he expected great things out of me. Then I went and left, now I am coming back and want to have little or no catching up to do. Should I just work on my basics? Round Houses, Front Kicks, Axe Kicks, Creasent Kicks, The basic Blocks, and my stances? Any additional stuff, like a good diet to complement my work. I am not over wieght I am just a little to meaty XD Only 1 out of 1,000 karate participants make blackbelt? MAN I am gonna be one out of those 1,000^^. All summer I'll eat breath and sleep karate. I want to win a major tournement and open up a school. It's my dream. Thanks, Ryokeen P.S. Mom wanted me to pay for my first lesson so she was sure I wanted to continue, it's only 50.00 for privet lessons form a 9th dan certified teacher o.0.
  23. Well we wear ours left over right because the origins of our MA says that right over left means death. A fight to the death rather. I guess it's a matter of the origins ect.
