  1. As usual you're right. Haha, maybe that's that feeling of can't move my arm, the acid lol. It's not an obsession I just make it sound like it is. lol. I swear. Just a desire to get better. I want to get better, the best I can get... but it's not worth ym body being useless... So what would you suggest? Mom's done studies in nutrition and such for College so I'll talk to her about it. Thanks!
  2. No to mean, once I get my blackbelt that means I'll be able to really study the arts, becuase Iw on't have to worry about that next test, or what not. I can go back and look at the moves and forms and stances. The real hard part is getting ready for regionals then nationals then maybe a worlds? All in my plans.
  3. Forms of course easy to do alone. Perhaps if you have a mirror practice aim? Try to get the kneecap shin waist and work your way up. Go through all your techniques.. Do everythign you would imagining there's a person there.
  4. Overall, once life calms down and people in my family settle down I'll be putting anywhere form 30-40 hrs in a week. I work it in here and there and everywhere . But I'm just crazy and I want to win nationals and maybe a world title? Who knows. As of right now 8 -12 hrs a week. To easy.
  5. You're living one of my dreams... Lucky haha. Good job
  6. Whoever told me I'd eventually stop getting stronger if I didn't use weights is evil, becuase yes you do continually grow stronger without weights.. ANYWAYS. How much training is to much? Or is there no such thing... Something you'll need to know about me, I'm a perfectionist when it comes to martial arts. If the techniques not right I'll excuse my self to a corner of the room and work on it untill it is perfect. Anywho, I was just woundering, if it was bad to continually daily work your body. Except ofcourse on Sunday the day of rest. Becuase my goals aren't like most 15 year olds. Blackbelts? Oh no my goals are MUCH higher. Worldchampionships, nationals, opening own school, it's all in the mix of my goals. I AM NOT going to achieve these goals training ONE part of my body every other day. There's way to much I have to learn and perfect and commit. So I was just woundering, for a 15 year old, with bassically a dojo at his disposal, is there such thing as to much training? Several times I've found my self going past exhuation. Not becuase I'm dumb, but becuase I want to be the best I can, and I KNOW somewhere out there... even as I type some kid is training to be a world champion too and I don't want to look back at all the time I wasted. My body has grown use to it and it's taking a LOT more for it to get tired now, or atleast it seems like it. 40 hours a week is my first goal. My school breaks 12 hrs a day will have martial arts with friends and such ofcourse. Okay, Thank you for your time, Aaron Grosch
  7. You're going to get a lot of Biased oppinions. Striking arts, which seem like something you wantm would be what I'd go for. If you have long legs, start using them . TKD, Kung Fu (depending on the school nowadays), Tang Soo Do, WTF TKD, Some Karate schools, and a few others head up your options. There are a lot of striking arts. I'd start google searching them and talking to people who you know ar ein amrtial arts. Often times instructors talk about other instructors in the area, weather it be good or bad. Such as the guy who randomly got a 4th degree blackbelt, that if eel I could beat at yellowbelt.. lol. Anyways. Best of luck, let us know if you find a school and please give us all the info you can!
  8. Aikido is not known for its striking abilities; however, there are some amazing techniques out there that scare the pants of me. I've seen some one who's studied Aikido for about 25 years , use 2 fingers in 3 diffrent ways and make a ragdoll out of some one same expirienc ein a different art. I didn't know some one could flip someone over with just 2 fingers... wow. However, as I said. There are a few shortfalls on Aikido, such as striking. Possibly find a hybrid? if you don't want to pay for multiple schools, there my be a school out there that teaches a hybrid, like mine. It's emphisis is on TKD however, it teaches Muay Thai,Akido and some Shorin-Ryu. Best oF luck. Tell us about a school if you find it. The Intructors name, any and all contract details(if accplicable), Costs (hidden and open plus belt rankings), and remeber a school that PROMISES a blackbelt usualy isn't to good. However 4-6 years(sometimes 3 depending on the ammount of days class is held) is reasonable if it does come up. Remember you're learning to learn not get a blackbelt. A black belt is just that start of a world of fun .
  9. Don't give it up. Take it slow, it isn't a race. Get the techniques down piece by piece, then put them together. It isn't a race to the blackbelt it's a race against yourself to learn something new and be able to apply it. Right now my Sensei's 12 year old son is holding class. Honestly I feel like I'd be a better teacher, he's paying little to no attention to the mistakes and such taking place. I think I will have a talk to my sensei about this, either I or one of hos odler sons should come in. I'm a yellowbelt and I do my technique more correctly than our current instructor. In ym own personal studies I'm allready doing his kataa. He's an advanced rank 2 away from black, yet I beat him in point sparring, and in other competitions we hold.. anyways! He'll be counting to 30 as fast as he can and be woundering why I'm doing ym techniques still being the second best there. It's becuase I'm acctually doing the techniques right, not just yelling numbers throwing half working techniques. I struggled with this too; however, now It's second nature for me to throw a spin kick and follow through with that nice backfist to the head. Just stay focused, and forget about everyone else. Speed does not equal correct. Remember that.
  10. I play guitar I have been playing for ALMOST 3 years. I play preety much anything I'd care to play. I am just now starting to work on solo's, they aren't really that hard or anything at all just take it slow, the speed and such come later... I treat ym guitar playing like my martial arts, get the technique down first thenw orry about the speed and power. Works preety well.
  11. I recentl'y bought a full set of sparring gear from tigerclaw before they raise thier prices on the 5th, and I'm planning on buying a mouthguard latter on in September I think.
  12. I've seena 220 lb XMA'r do things I beleived he couldn't do, axe2ariels, all kinds of things.. You'll loose wieght buy ONLY drinking water. This is the easiest way to loose some wieght without really dieting. You'll also loose wieght in your XMA class if you try hard. You'll need to for it.
  13. Www.google.com Then click on the local button. I have family in Baltimore but I can't recall any TKD schools, then again I wasn't there to look for a school. But I am sure there are quite a few. I think Caroll? County has some to but that a bit of a drive I'd search in your area first. Typically In TKD there's the bo, Tonfas and the Sai. I could be wrong but that's all that was offered in most fo the TKD schools here. Now if you learn a mixture of TKD with other thigns this my differ. It all depends on the school I guess. ALWAYS check and see if they offer a free of charge day or 2 if not it looks like theya're out for the money. Any teacher who was interested in teaching wouldn't charge you wihtout letting you see it first. And the Intsructor shouldn't be like in the movies where they yell at you for doing a pushup wrong or a tehcnique wrong, that's a sign of a horrible teacher or either that or a really tough on you kinda guy and I don't feel it's a good idea to run into one of those before you have any expirience. My 2cents and some pocket lint. Aaron
  14. Look at it this way, Theres less people witch means more 1on 1 times witch mean you learn more, faster. In 2-3 months of serious training I have all the knowledges requirements to be a blue belt, hoping to learn one more kata and then I'll have the knowledge of a green belt.. I take my martial arts sincerely so trust me I eanred the right to have the knowledge. It depends, if you like him, and the way he teaches then go for it. My sparring partner is the assistant instructor. I learn alot from him and it's a great deal of fun trying to bring him down or get him backed up lol. Anyways it sounds preety good.
  15. In another point of veiw, it get's you to solidly think if you really know all that's required. It's a way of saying, look you'll waste 50.00 if you're really unsure. That'd make me train harder. Luckily we don't have to pay anything for belts. But the tests are often hard and confusing lol. Our blackbelt test is atleast 6-9 hours long. AT the very LEAST. I wounder how long my sensei's was. His sensei was very sinceare(sp) about the martial arts and made sure my sensei knew everything like the back of his hand. Anyways I feel that's a good idea. Just explain to your wife that you aren't just paying for a chance, there's alot of costs for the schools leader and most of the money fi not all will go twords getting everything straitend up. Aaron
  16. I like that idea. I think we cna aford that. Thanks. ebay
  17. You can get a Free Standing Bag.. for the time being. Also I've seen people install a long board on thier roof and securing it really well and useing that to hang the bag on.
  18. My sensei got a letter in the mail yesterday that Tigerclaw(I'm preety sure as thats the only company he buys from) Will be increasing thier prices as of september 5th, by 8%!. Due to gas prices in order for them to make the same amount of money the shipping and equiptment prices will be rising. Just wanted to give you guys fair warning if you were thinking of ordering stuff from them do it soon. Also there seems to be a back order on thier large helmets in some cases, just wanted you all to know just in case. If the item is on backorder you'll not get charged the 8% even if they don't get shipped until or after september 5. That is how my sensei understood it anyways. Fair Warning . Aaron
  19. As it turns out My Sensei has decided that since our new equiptment hasn't gotten in for sparring that no one will be going.. but I asked him if I could go compete in Kata. I'm not allowed, but I do get to go and watch and maybe do some light sparring with his son to warm him up. This way I get to see what it's like and I get free food out of the deal.. I get to be his assistant. I feel this'll be a good chance to learn as my sensei is one of the judges. I'll listen carefully to what he points out ect in others Kata and that'll help me perfect mine. HE said we WILL be competing in the state regionals. He said by then we should have our competition team up to par. I might be a blue or MAYBE green belt by then so that's a challenge I look forward too. . Thanks for the comments and tips. I'll bookmark this so in a month or two I'll know where to look . Thanks again!
  20. 8/10 of my kicks are with my "lead leg". It's my fastest leg and I can sneek in many points with it. I use this for point sparring ro to check my opponent. In a real fight situation it may not prove useful to me until I develope mroe leg muscle. But yes I use it for most things I do... and that doesn't mean my hind leg can throw a fast strong kick, it is just much quicker with thef ront leg as it is so much closer to your target and there is little warning of the kick.
  21. I feel preety confident in my self and in my skills. I have already gotten down (preety solidly) 3 Kata's I have only started seriously training in Mid June. I have my stances preety close to 100% right on the first, prolly 95% on the second and 99% on the third. I am Preforming my 3rd kata witch is only a (hmm 42?) Move kata for the judges and I hear there will be 4 judges on each corner(or side) of the area. I'm a shy person but I'm letting my confidence handle this one. I'm not thinking all the what if's but Im just a little jittery. Any suggestions? I'm not afraid to get beat or embarased for it's my first tournement, but it'd be nice if I could show them my best without any worries. I feel I could possibly lock a tophy or ribbon, The kata is advanced for my belt ranking and as I said theres only a few pickings I have with a couple of my front stances and I'll have it down pat. The tourney is Saturday... When I get home at like 7:00 EST I'll tell you how I did . Thanks in advanced... I have to go soak my legs for they are soar and that needs to be fixed asap. . Warmbaths....ahhh.. Thanks! Aaron
  22. Okay thanks, I guess I forgot to say what my style acctually is. It's a mixture of what I listed with a strong TKD background.
  23. My sensei offered us some time to think fo the Martial arts weapon we'd like to learn. I trimmed it down to the Sai, Tonfa, and the Bo... I am completly split on which to chose. I'd like one that would compliment my style, so I'm thinking bo. ANy suggestions?
  24. I'm not gonna tell you to stop or that your style won't work ebcause I don't know. But as was said before, you need ot understand things you seem to not understand. I put most of my thoughts into the martial arts, It's been just a few months voer a year in my martial arts class and I am just learning that theres a WHOLE lot more too martial arts then belts and fighting. It's almost like a way of life. There are many things you could not possibly understand from a kickboxing class. You claimed you could beat your teacher, I take that as a sign of either a horrible training place or simply your teacher let you win. The techniques you listed are used in every martial arts. I my self am a Fire, water kind of guy, other though use other things ect when they fight or spar. You have just utilized the ancient ideas of every martial art and given them a name. I'd say you'll need ot do more practicing with real sensei's. But then again you could have something. I'm not one to put down others ideas or creations.
  25. sometimes have a banna nut muffin or somethign of the sort for breakfast if you want. helps you get your grains ect. Never eat red meat for supper... bassically what he said works well for me im 15 5'6 or so. 126 lbs.
