  1. whens a good time for you? Im ready whenever you are.You have a certain gym or school you go to?
  2. I spent a lot of time with the Chinese styles,Did some TKD then Some Judo and Enshin Karate, but here recently Ive been just working my kickboxing and stretching and trying to work my cardio, sometimes alone, some times with other guys.Ive been looking for a muay thai school around that will allow me to go in the morning as well.
  3. hey Im in Charlotte,NC.I'm looking to get into Muay Thai,Ive done martial arts for a long time now, never any mauy thai however.
  4. well Dallas played horribly lastnight.
  5. Yeah keep us updated if you have the time.I myself would really like to know how things are going as well.
  6. Hey thats cool my man,I always wanted to take a trip like that.Well I shouldnt say always wanted to I'm only 24 so I still have plenty of time to do so.It may be hard with a wife and two children however, and I've never been on a plane before, but I hpe everything goes great for you.
  7. Yeah,I hope we have helped you with our optimism,Your never to old to take up something you have a love for.Thats the beauty of martial arts, your going to go as far as you will yourself to go.Regardless of age.God bless you in all of your endeavors.
  8. Listen,I don't think your to old for anything. So many people get infatuated with an age thing pertaining to the martial arts.I'll give you a good level of optimism here. One of my favorite all time kick boxers(God rest his soul) Alex Gong,he didn't even start training muay thai until he was 23.Bas Rutten seriously started training martial arts when he was 21,Rich Franklin started training at what 26? Many fighter these days figh into their mid thirties to early fourties, some even older. So relaistically speakin if you train and fight until your 41 that gives you 20 years. You can learn do and accomplish a lot in 20 years. So many people seem to think what matters most is how many years you've trained and it's not it at all. What matters is your desire, drive and what you do in those years that you have.
  9. I can get em' both ways.
  10. I've oftem wondered tha exact specifics myself. From what I know,American kickboxing matches usually don't allow low kicks, and I know there is no knees or elbows.I could be wrong but this is what I have noticed.
  11. ^^^ Good post.I agree whole heartedly. It simply boils down to the individual.
  12. Since noone mentioned it I will, don't cut corners.Just take your time. You've got a whole life ahead of ya.Work hard and practice.Personally I love knees.
  13. I got my knee striking power greater from doing lots and lots of squats.I do some where I go all tha way to tha ground almost where my butt is on my heels, then go up very slowly.I do some where I go all the way down and shoot up.Then some jumping squats. This has seemed to work very well for me on knee speed and power. Then of course working them on a partner holding thai pads, and banging em' on tha heavybag yourself as well.
  14. Jet Li has probably done many of tha kung-fu styles, and I know some wushu. As for JCVD I know he was a french kickboxing champion way earlier in his life, well it has been said he was a champion I don't know for sure that he was,but french kickboxing is Savate.Steven Segal is a very renowned Akido practicioner.
  15. I dunno, but if you like Martial arts comics,i'm sure there are some better than Elektra.Maybe you just like Elektra, but I've never read any of her comics.
  16. Hey,that's cool too.Maybe you get a career change.I always wondered what acting life was like.Probably a lot more tedious and tiring that it seems.
  17. Oh ok,That's cool.Did you get a part in it anywhere? As maybe an extra or anything?
  18. Did you have anything to do with this flick? Know anyone in it or anything?
  19. ^^^ That is a truly good point,I've seen so many guys with a very bad range of motion due to bulking up to much.I would do as power of one said.If you ever wanna compete find out which weight class you wanna fight in and go from there. If it's solidly for just a look then, bulk up all ya want.
  20. Oh yeah,no doubt.Just tha scene where his girlfriend/wife I'm not really sure someone gets killed and when tha bald headed guy is talking to that Asian guy,tha acting just seemed a litlle off,but hey in time.It is cool to see more martial arts flicks coming out though.
  21. some of tha acting looks a little bad, looks like it may be a decent flick though.I'll check it out.
  22. Like I said,I'm not sure why UFC dosen't allow a Gi what-so-ever,I know a few guys in pride still wear em,.As far as not making it anywhere with any of those styles.I dunno what he meant by that, again look at The crow, hes fighting Rich franklin coming up,and could possibly win.He is a TKD guy.
  23. not one bit.
  24. I'm sure you could still wear a Gi if you wanted to,but so many people don't like tha backlash of wearing one easier to get grabbed,a few guys still wear them in Pride but tha number has vastly decreased. As far as what styles you can use anything you want as long as your a good fighter. The Crow David loiseau (sp?) is currently doing very very well, and is even up to fight Ace and he talks a lot about his TKD background.
  25. I wasn't sure if he was asking,or he was gonna say something about a gym there.Either way I don't know about either/or.
