Wat you guys think???

Like Rick 72. I also dunno what style of Karate you trainned before. In karate, we were taught to able to "one hit one kill." Yes, there is time we want to get in and out quick, but there are also times we want to penetrate, and finish fight in one hit. They are just different techics with different intention. Not only techniques considered as low percentage from older muay were removed, and some of more dangerous, but very effective moves were removed also, and also grappling technics. Because they want to make it safe. by they way, Mirko Cro Cop is a good fighters. Good technics and very precise.

Pressure Points - mystical or basic biomechanics?
kzshin replied to Jiffy's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
oh just want to add. He did mention that the theory behind pressure point is same as pressure point in Chinese medicine. And Chinese medicine is in fact very scientific, and alot of theory was accepted by western medicine, and that includes pressure point. ever seen people using needle and stick into body for pain relieve?? if you live in Souther California, it's not hard to find place do that, and not only Chinese goes to that places. -
Pressure Points - mystical or basic biomechanics?
kzshin replied to Jiffy's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
well, not many people really knows how to do it these days, althought there are people claim they do, but they acutally don't. I guess you have to fly to China to really get hit by one. To me, since it's a program from reputable BBC, and this particular program, has people like Dr. Hatsumi on the show before, so I think it's credible enough for me to believed it. by the way, he did make contact. -
chinese martial art in ufc
kzshin replied to AceKing's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Regarding same techiques with different name; you know, I found alot of times, the name is different only because people try to spell them in engish according the to the dialog tone, thou leads to different "names" For example, Wing Chun, and Youn Tsun. They sounds different, and totally spell like different "name" in English. But if you understand Chinese Character, they are actually the same in Chinese writing. I know alot of non-chinese speaks has trouble with this. Also, I am not sick of UFC itself, it's entertaint to watch, but I am sick of the hype that it comes with. I think there are alot of misconceptions regarding traitional Art. -
Kung Fu In Combat
kzshin replied to MizuRyu's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
VERY WELL WRITTEN!!!! Traditionla Fist. Finally someone made it clear. And also, Chinese has fought war for more than 3000 years, and mostly are tradtional melee combat. Kung Fu was definately used in every single war in China, and even today, Chinese military were trained to use it. (I am sure they don't cross-train in Muay Thai, BJJ or Boxing) The effectivenss of Kung Fu in combat shouldn't be doubt. And with that long of history, and to think that Kung FU has not coverd the ground aspect???? I don't think so. -

kzshin replied to y2_sub's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
King actually resemble the tiger mask, a famous japanese professional wrestler. However, in Tekken 5, he has moves from rock buttom (fromt the rock), Tombstone (from Undertaker) to Kiniku buster (from kiniku man/muscle man animation). Which I think is really cool. -

for people want to see san shou fight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6MnGc2sAtk Liu Hai long, is considered probably the best sanshou guy in China. this one is a different San Shou guy against best Muay Thai (in my humble opinion), Buakaw last one is against one of the best from kyukoshin. -
To-te is the original name of Karate. Most people think to-te means hand of china, however, if you know how to write chinese word or Kanji. Literally, it means hand of Tang. Tang as Tang Dynasty. Which pretty much give you a good idea when the art 1st appeared in Okinawa. Later on, Japanese changed the name "to-te" to "kara-te," means empty hand.

if I remeber correctly, and if you are talking about traditional Okinawan, originally, there were three traditonal styles. And if you talking about the tradtional Japanese karate styles that were reconginze by Dai Nipon Budokai (the highest martial art authority in Japan), Originally, there were 6. The three I know for sure are: Shotokan Shito Ryu Shindo Jinen Ryu and the two I believed it's in are (correct me if I am wrong) Wado Ryu Goju Ryu I dunno the last one, please fill in, if anyone knows.

basic wudang question
kzshin replied to kheb3350's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
According to Chinese legend and popular Chinese believe, a martial art master named Chang San Fon, created Tai Chi, and later on he went to Wu dan mountain and create Wu Dan Pi(in chinese, not sure how to translate to english, the closest translation probably is Style.) Anyway, so Wu Dan Tai Chi, supposely is the roots of all Tai Chi. Any other tai chi supposely is derived from Wu Tang Tai Chi. (please don't flame, this is according to most popular chinese legend and believes regarding Tai Chi.) -
Jet Li's latest movie
kzshin replied to kzshin's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
According to Jet Li, movies like Unleashed, kiss of Dragon, Romeo must die and such are action film. Movie suchs as Fearless, ta chi master, fist of legend are Martial art films. For him, there are differences between these two types of film. Also fighting scene in Unleash cant compare to Fearless. He actually put alot more effort on filming fighting scene in Fearless (according to him, and director) -

kzshin replied to kzshin's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
one of very important idea of the movie is that, In marital arts, all arts are good, there is no one art better than the other. People who trainned are the one that made the differences. -
