no pain, no gain?
Infrazael replied to taiji fajin's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Start out with bang-arms and push hands with A HUMAN partner. Not a tree please. Eventually, move on to wooden dummy as you advanced (and bones strengthen from GRADUAL conditioning, please). Do wooden dummy. Keep doing it forever. Gradually move from gloved to gloveless heavy bag sessions. Start with light punches, only straight punches. After a while, go harder, and use hooks, various kung fu techniques, etc. GRADUAL iron palm training. GRADUAL. please, start with dried beans, NOT iron shoot. the word is GRADUAL. if you don't do it gradually, it's your own damned fault you're hand is screwed up. -
Favorite Kung Fu style
Infrazael replied to Emei89's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Obviously, I love Choy Lay Fut the most since I do it. However, I also enjoy watching others, especially Dragon, Southern/Northern Praying Mantis, and Hung Gar. -
Why do you have to fight for a black belt??
Infrazael replied to yireses's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Why is this tread in the Kung Fu section??? In MOST traditional schools, Kung Fu do not even use belts. In CLF, Infraz. -
If you train properly in Muay Thai, you won't get injured. IMO, Muay Thai will own any Karate, except Kyokushin (full-contact), because of the harsh training methods and just the purely effectiveness of it. As for MMA - BJJ and MT work VERY well together. Even I'm working on taking BJJ later, when I have the time and money. Why??? Because in a life-or-death situation, your groundgame may prove far more beneficial than your striking game at times.

Erase Styles
Infrazael replied to Emei89's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Do you honestly I would tell a Wing Chun guy any of my Choy Lay Fut secrets just for the hell of it??? I would respect them, but not in that sense. Oh yeah, and before you call me arrogant, I would expect them to keep all their secrets for themselves. This goes to all the different styles. -

Northern Styles. . . . . . . . . They are cool. But you know, Southern is my thing lol. -

Northern Praying Mantis or Southern Praying Mantis??? -
Well said TangSooGuy. I agree with what you say. As long as they don't start making out in the School and distract everyone. Otherwise, there's nothing wrong with dating!!! (unless you just don't want to, like me).

hung ga
Infrazael replied to jctkd's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Hung Gar and Choy Lay Fut are extremely similar, but in opposite ways. Whereas in Hung Kuen they will use more of the metal element in their techniques, CLF would utilize more "whipping power." So, essentially HG and CLF are two sides of the same coin. I would know as I have 3 SiHings who were all ex-Hung Gar practitioners. I've also researched intensely upon this subject. -
Top 10 Streetfighting Problems.
Infrazael replied to dippedappe's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
If you REALLY have to fight. . . . . I suggest carrying 2 Whipchains under your coat. The can do MASSIVE damage on multiple opponents, and can easily maim and kill. If you try hard enough, you might even be able to find spiked ones. Now we're talking. -
Defending against Strikes
Infrazael replied to STR33T GUY's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
In Choy Lay Fut, virtually all of the 10 seed (10 primary hand techniques) are designed to neutralize your opponent's attacks by striking theirs at varying angles. Therefore, in our style we're very rarely "blocking" but instead, we simply strike. Strike against strike is also alot better IMO, than parrying, blocking, etc. However, in other Kung Fu such as Hung Gar, they will not only strike away, but will apply a "bridge" as well, to control their opponents, move in, and smash through. -
Mabye you should just try harder. Or move to guys for that matter

Help me choose.
Infrazael replied to ApHoTiC's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Kung Fu and Chinese Martial Arts usually offer around 25-20 different weapons. And you can learn them all too lol. -

Not if you are a ruthless, cynical, brutally honest, and extremely capitalistic entrepreuner that is willing to step on others, use money well, as well as an excellent Martial Artist. -

Why don't you ask this directly to a practitioner of Tai Ji Chuan, Ba Ji Chuan, or Hsing-I Chuan???
