  1. why would you want to stop blinking when someones about to ''play'' hit you? This is real life, not some action movie xP Besides...the wind from the momentum of your friends punch or kick would get into your eye, making you blink!
  2. mind games=fakes and feints. These are a BIG deal during sparring and real fighting. One of the members at my dojo is an exceptional boxer for his fakes and feints,it can really make all the difference.
  3. why jump kick them off, when you can shoot an arrow into their stomachs? less of a hassle, safer chance of not getting your leg chopped off attempting to kick the guy off the horse.
  4. ninja vision..sounds like a book ashida kim would write.. Ashida kim makes me laugh...
  5. if you guys think about it...JKD in translation means ''intercepting the fist'',it isnt saying anything specific like other fighting styles like.. TKD-''way of the fist and foot'' Karate-''empty hand combat'' It shows that it is not a style, thats why Bruce mainly thought of it as a philosophy.
  6. frank dux? who does this guy think he is? van damme from blood sport? Chong Li!
  7. thats not a fight..its just a waste of time.
  8. the one that hits
  9. My instructor has given me nose bleeds, busted ankle(mainly my fault though-.-),and almost KOed me. Yeah sure....it was rough and tough....but i enjoyed every minute of it. you become the best by first being beaten by the best
  10. You can never realize how good or how much you improved, mainly because....your you. Are you worried that your friend is a fast learner? or that your just staying the same? You may train much more than the other students, but the only way to improve in sparring is BY sparring.Kicking and punching a heavy bag would just improve your finese and stamina compared to the others. When you spar..veryone gets hit...thats just life...so what if he hit you more? hes was probably having a good day and you wernt
  11. Anyone know any bujinkan or any other type of ninjutsu dojos around the Edison,NJ area? always wanted to check out one of these places.
  12. The adrenaline causes those after effects. eye gauging was always one of my favorites..i havent exactly gauged out anyones eyes and dont plan too,but a quick jab to the eye with your fingers can cause some pain and lag in the opponent for you to take advantage of.
  13. bjj has its goods and bads. Goods:perfect for a street fight since most fights end up on the ground. Bads:Only can be a 1on1
  14. getting into a 14 or 20 fight is like...running away from a loan shark..
  15. Isometrics would be the best way to go. All you do is hold yourself up in the push up position til you feel the burn.Eventually you will gain the strength to begin normal push ups.
  16. Brazillian Ju Jutsu. This is the last resort, sometimes fights can end up on the ground for even the most experienced street ruffians. But for overall stand up id have to say....it depends on the person..
  17. go home, get a gun, visit every house of the punks that bagged on me. Im joking, its good you stayed calm, most people arent able to do that.I know I would just flip out to a certain point if they just kept on babbling nonsense. You learn MA for self defense, attacking a person who uses their mouths to fight because they cant with their body isnt self-defense,it just drops you lower than their level.
  18. theres no such thing as a nice guy in a real fight. Why be afraid of hurting him when hes trying to do it to you?
  19. My dojo is rough....well what can you expect from a dojo that teaches street combat? Ive seen people come and go in one day. Some could not take hits or some people did other MA's like tkd,and were just not intrested since we dont really do high kicks to the face,or kung fu guys who totally hated it since it wasnt as traditional as their art. I hope to one day open up my own dojo...well when im finished with school first xD
  20. elektra you dont see the fighting..instead you see blankets n drapes covering the screen, and all you hear is unecessary yelling and weapon noises.
  21. BJJ is ALL techniques...and 'its all in the hips' <-Happy Gilmore! BJJ was created by the one Gracie who had weak bones and could easily get hurt, out of all....bizillions of them(joking). I always thought brute strength was the way to go for ground fighting...i was wrong when a blue belt in bjj that was 110lbs got me in a few submissions within a matter of time.
  22. why? because your reputation is on the line?
  23. Ive seen clips of boxers beating karate men. Ive seen videos of karate men beating boxers. Im guessing that the person with the more skill and more training/experience would dominate the match. The biggest weakness for the boxers would be that they are way to use to relying on their fists to knock the guy out. Karate men on the other hand also have a weakness to,not all can block fast, you forget not everyone are the same as you and everyone else in these forums and it takes years of experience and training to be a great fighter since they learn a lot of disciplines,attacks,etc...unliek boxers who learn different variations of punches, for boxers...it'll probably take a few months to be a hardcore fighter in the ring. Show me a 20 year experienced Karate warrior and a 20 year experienced iron fist boxer....then that would be very intresting to see who would win.
