  5. Hi [No Fear] and welcome!
  6. I agree! I've said this before.......Never underestimate ANYONE!
  7. I have been to schools that tested every six months for low belts and I have been to schools that tested every three months for lower belts so I guess it all depends on the individual school and instructor. Also be aware that different schools may have a different number of belts so the schools with more belts may test more often.
  8. Hi BMmonk and welcome!
  9. Hi frightmaster and welcome!
  10. I find that in general and there are exceptions, most martial artists who get into a lot of fights are those with limited training. When I began my training, I got into lots of fights but as became more knowledgeable, I avoided conflicts. I am now very afraid to get into fights because of the possibility of getting arrested or getting sued!
  11. Hi Skyhawk!
  12. No matter how much compettion I did, I always got the butterflies prior to the starting. The more that I competed, the less intense that it was so my advice is to just continue entering and face your fears.
  13. Congradulations! That's one more step towards a black belt.
  14. I said this in another topic. My friend has trained for about 8 years and he is a purple belt in BJJ. I have another friend who got his black belt in about the same number of years but he trained for hours a day, seven days a week.
  15. I was terrible in all sports untill I tried martial arts. I finally found something that I felt that I could do well.
  16. One possibility is that when you spend a lot of time teaching, you have less time to train yourself. I trained a lot harder prior to teaching others.
  17. Hi Jordan!
  18. I've never trained in San Soo but from what I've seen of it, it is very similar to Kajukenbo. Strike, take down, and finish the person off.
  19. Shorin Ryuu, This is an interesting statement. Can you tell me where you got this information??
  20. I agree with AnonymousOne. When people ask me how long does it take to become a black belt, I tell them that it is not a matter of years but how soon can you perform the techniques. If promotions were based on time, it should be done by hours not by years. Is a student who trained 1 hour, 3 times a week. the same as a student who trained 2 hours, 6 days a week?
  21. Hi Andrew and welcome!
