Yeah sports orientated physio - general sports require a slightly different approach than normal just recovery from injury physio, even if its not age related.

The police train to function as a group to subdue / incapacitate people in the UK - ratherh than just on their own. you always notice they immediately split up; surround., adn then take the guy to the floor where they basically restrain them to stop them hurting him/her self or them That the sort of thing? Thats the only immediate "subdue" training that comes to mind with groups working together.... i dont know of any that works for a group against a larger group? -

It also depends on what you focus on when you break... and what sort of boards you use - rebreakable or none - they all give different benefits

i dont really have a trademark technique fro sparring , use spinning back kick quite a bit, as a coutner attack, but thats pretty much it.

nice - can imagine that really filled you with confidence I just remember when i first did some full contact fighting - thought it wouldnt be that different... definitely wrong there. -

You cant adjust movement direction in the air so generally a bad idea....

So what your saying is ALL tkd forms are easy - which set? just interested in which ones you've learnt... other than that anything i would put would be a repetition of what paul has put [having also learnt a number of sets] Also in interested - why do you say they are look impractical tsdtony - i understand about hte power creation differences, but other than that? Good focus, power technique and conditioning But nothing about application of technique.... Thats pretty much it - teaches you to hit stuff hard fast and in the right place with a solid attacking tool [correct fist shape etc.] and makes sure you have hard hands / feet.... I wouldnt say it is important to TKD; only some styles and only some schools within those styles .... i find it help ful for conditioning and measuring the impact of techniques [and giving myself an aim for improvement in this], but wouldny say it helps something like self defense as with breaking you have time to focus and hit a specific static target...

As always - its down to how you train, and the studnet them selves.... ITF tkd i would agree is more disposed to self defense [but then again im an ITF student and therefore probably SLIGHTLY biased ] So long as you look at what you learn realistically and think about application of technique rather than just the technique it self.... i.e. a 540 jumping reverse turning kick is USELESS for self defense, but the practice involved in it increas your explosive power in your legs... so the move may not help but the training does... I would say TKD cna help so long as you approach it in the right way - and as with any MA it cannot be decided by single experiences as in "this book about a guy i read" or "my friend who does [insert MA here] got beat up" or "i beat some instructor somewhere at his own club in his rules"..... They rae usually single incidents, anyway im not saying TKD will make u an invincible fighting maching capable of taking on 3 UFC fighters at the same time nad come out barely breaking a sweat, but like any MA it does help with the basic principles and give you the tools you need to defend yourself.

Lol, always happens doesnt it - "yeah but what about eye gouging and killing moves" "well... you couldnt hit someone that accuractely in a real fight..." lol... generally the gist of how these debates go... I reckon any training for fighting for 10years at the highest level vs. 1 year in another [unless one is something silly like feather duster fighting] would just completely dominate the least experienced one.

Yeah that does seem a bit on the expensive side I pay £25 a month, which gets me as many lessons as i can get to which is currently around 7 or 8 hours a week [28 hours month] so less than £1 a lesson which vary between 1 and 2 hours... But then again thats VERY cheap... I defniitely question the price versus training - if you're getting the best training around with loads of out of hours support and guides, good instructors and good equipment / purpose built training hall then maybe its worth it.... any more info?
