LOL! I can remember in my 1st Muay Thai fight - my trainer yelling to me from the corner -"LOW - HIGH" and my opponent then assuming I was going to kick low then high. We had worked this as look low - kick high. WHAM! Caught him up side the head -

Full contact weapons sparring - with as little protective gear as possible.

"You serious ?" Yes - I'm serious. I'm not saying it should be a regular part of your training but you should experience it. You should also experience... Grappling on loose sand... ... In the rain ... Wearing very heavy & restrictive clothing ... In the dark ... In a confined space ... Against more than one person ... With weaponry involved ..... and many more! Each one of the above changes the game. If real world self protection skills are one of your goals then you need to address these issues.

Here are a few for you to try:- Lead kick inside his lead leg - fake rear cross - rear low kick. Lead teep - rear body kick - lead hook as the kick retracts - rear knee - rear low kick Rear low kick (if he leg-shields) - fake rear low kick - jab-cross-rear knee -

Getting back mount from guard
YODA replied to YODA's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Hey Bon - did you give it a go? -
I agree on the cement issue - knee mount is a great place to be It's adviseable to experience the guard on a hard surface - if your opponent is bigger & stronger than you there is a good chance you will end up there either by design or not. This is why they work the guard so much in BJJ - It happens!

It isn't important where you look - all that matters is that you "see" Peripheral vision is the key. Motion detection is keenest in your peripheral vision. -
