I like to do pyramid sets on the thai pads. start at 1. at one, to one rep. at 2 do 2 reps......etc. got to goal, then back down to 1 again. If you pyramid up to 10, you get in 100 repetitions. You can also do double-kick rounds. 3 minute round of getting as many kicks as you can, in double-kicks. Have your partner attack you and harrass you while you try to kick the pads he's holding. YOu can also do combination rounds the same way, the pad holder will still harrass you but will cue you when to do your combo.

I was born in Okinawa and lived there until I was 8. I visited when I was 14. I was in Toride, Japan last year for about 4 months. The subject of ninja is somewhat of a funny subject, and it's embarrassing to bring it up. Not one person I talked to about it think ninja's exist today. There were mixed opinion about what role ninja served in history. Basically, the public isn't a good source of info about the subject of ninja.

BTW, I've heard different versions of the ninja myths, from black pajamas to spies, like you describe. I see you are a disciple of the Hatsumi, so I'm sure my doubts about your master will offend you.

I you want to wear black pajamas and play ninja, feel free. I did see a Discovery special that featured a "real" ninja dojo in Japan. They grandmaster said that commanding magic was the ultimate goal of ninjitsu. Was that the same guy? My question is.. why do you believe Hatsumi?

I dunno, maybe if you say something like stinking Jap, it changes the context of the word. I've heard other slurs that I consider more offensive to Japanese, like Zero's or Zippers.

I doubt Dr Hatsumi is telling truth with his books. There are "ninja" around today, but they are simply weirdos that follow the mysticism and mythos of the ninja stories, along with all of the woo woo magic.

Hmm.. My mom is Japanese, and I don't take it as offensive, neither does my mom.

He stuck with pretty basic stuff. It's amazing how he can to the basics so fluid and quick that it looks like he's doing more than he is.
