  1. Nothing should be done because you still have their guidance. Do what they ask until you are of age. At least you may be able to practice a art.
  2. Your JJ teaches weapon technique for defense or for use? What do you mean?
  3. In one word.....opinion. In another...choice. Pick one randomly and start. Perhaps one closest in location and/or affordable to your budget
  4. I agree. Each art that I had studied were for about 5-6 years. However, I had multiple instructors and arts at one particular time because they knew each other and sent me to one another within the same areas of a particular study or subject.
  5. You are paying for a name. But then again, I HAD NEVERED paid for a belt test. Thus, I am from the "old school" since the late 60's-70's. Belt ranking and fees were not the issues.
  6. Some schools out of courtesy (and eagerness) will allow you retain your rank. Others will want to start you some other rank after reviewing what you know. Investigate each school/instructor. However, rank should not be the issue if there is newer, fresher material to be learned.
  7. Place a chair in front of you. Spread your legs, hold onto the chair. Watch TV or read a book (placed on the chair)
  8. Somehow, I am hearing the "Rocky Theme"
  9. It is all a numbers game of politics, ego, boistering, and skill claims. I had learn more from streetbrawlers than most claiming high Dans. In fact, I have seen high Dans get beat by those streetbrawlers.
  10. Does anyone here practice karate on Okinawa?
  11. Fear can have you do strange things
  12. JerryLove , kuntoafighter2003, delta1, wing chun kuen man, ramymensa, and others have some good points. In my long past, this had happened to me a whopping 7 times!!! Although each scenario was different, you can only BE THANKFUL that you survived. There was an old waffle commercial: "Let go your Ego" or was it "Eggo"? You seem nice, it would a shame when you could no longer post because you are in jail, or worst DEAD. Peace on your struggle.
  13. What if the friend is not around at the time?
  14. I don't think the execution of the technique, per each person's method is account here. The topic is would you use it? I have many, many years ago.
  15. I know, but when something different is said, I want to find the what, where, and why.
  16. This is about a rival that has ben going on for years. It will never change because both partcipants have not yet matured
  17. But Drunken Monkey said: ".....wing chun was NOT created by a nun called ng mui..... don't believe everyhing you read. for a start, there is more than enough 'true' histories on the net these days." pvwingchun, I have seen that tale over and over. If Drunken Monkey knows something different, I want to know and know where the info came from.
  18. Oh. I see you started another topic. Why don't you post it as a new thread?
  19. Interesting Reading: History of the Gun Tales if The Gun Chinese Boxer Rebellion
  20. What do you mean fist fights?
  21. Yeah, now that you put it that way. But Chinese were using fireworks as rocket weapons, not in projectile firing weapons
  22. Good point as others: This problem, and other problems, won't go away until you put a stopper on your ego and need for revenge. Despite how annoying the guy may be, try to look at him as a human being, with a father, mother, brothers and sisters. Recognize he's not everything in front of you, he's more... and he's less. You don't have to make him your friend, but you do need to try and stop 'ensuring' he's your enemy. Be prepare for losing the fight as well as winning. Perhaps there is more to be lost than losing a physical aspect.
