  1. Have you studied, in detail, the history and culture on India and Egypt? I mean REALLY, dig into it. Don't misconsrtue as looking for "actual detail" on the methods. When I used the term- "Systemized Method", per (systematic-methodical) meaning more than one (dozens-hundreds-thousands) person learning/practcing the same thing. Maeaning a army or large tribe. And, I am not talking about the "actual" emergence of man, (which some athroplogists will disagree and debate)
  2. delta1, I now understand what you are asking. I very much would like to share that with you. But, unfortuantely I cannot go into details per a specific reason. (Perhaps a PM?) I was just posting that there are other ways/methods, besides "googles"
  3. Nah, we have been there, although not entirely with Chinese etymology. Perhaps several courses in that may help you understand what I am trying to convey. My questions were for posters to look into it further.
  4. I think someone has to post a list of "McDojo charecteristics
  5. Back to "vehicular endangerment". Might as well not bring the child to the doctor or a hospital. Ambulances-whoa, cant get in one of those, that's endangerment. foreveryoung001 points it out well: If it were an adult in the demo, that could give his/her consent to being swung at, then it's a different argument altogether. Would his skill be considered any less efficient because he had an adult rather than a child? Or can he only prove his skills by putting a child in harms way? Or even "placing" the cup on a stand or ledge?
  6. As far as India and Egypt? Are we talking about the actual emergence of man, or the energence of a detailed scoial culture and a "systemized" method(s), of fighting?
  7. Yeah, but I was making a point that China is not necessarily the "oldest"
  8. Oh well, a child can be in "danger" from the moment it is conceived. Poor thing, it was in "danger" when the exterior air, temperature, etc., was exposed to it straight out of the womb. Wait, it was in "danger", if the nurse on duty dropped it. It was in "danger" if the formula making company, made a error with its product. More-it was in "danger" when its mother held it in the hospital bed. It is in danger in the home, if someone leaves the room temperature in either extreme. It is in danger taking a bath. It is in danger walking to school. It is in danger at school-rulers, pens, pencils, etc. Another thing with cars. The parent is not consciously "putting their child in danger". They are simply transporting their child. They (most of them should) are concerned with safety, i.e. seats, seat belts, speed, etc. But if they throw out safety, than they are no better than the "cup man"
  9. but you all forget about my idea about simply sparring with safety goggles to perfect this dangerous technique. if you could become good in sparring, a fight shouldnt be much harder. One of the sytems I have been in, had a different and unique manner. Really strange and concisive.
  10. It sickens me to think that this highly trained guy would use his skill to hurt animals just to prove that he kicks *(ego stroke ego stroke). This didn't win any "brownie points" with me! Yeah, but he will have a great "bar-b-cue" later!
  11. but most of their standards are poor because they are more interested in making money and keeping a full class than in teaching people. Mass Quantity I good think about McDojo's is that you can eventually wear a black belt and convince other people that you are a good martial artist, this is particularly useful for attracting naive beginning hotties at the McDojo. Hmmmn...something like this was discussed in another thread.
  12. I think the truth is many of us today treat a MA as a sport and not a MA. Not me. Kata has some value. "Welcome Back Kata"
  13. Some of our school buses have video cameras
  14. gcav, Over 30 years, I cannot possibly (maybe), list all of my reference material. My wife says I have a "mini library". Though, most of these reference materials, I did not obtain personally. Friends and family, donated the vast majority, say 98% But it is nice to see others posted. Perhaps I will "look them up"
  15. I wonder how long was that term used to mean martial art? Was it's first usuage to designate so? Was it always this way? What is its etymology?
  16. Darn, I STILL have that album-vinyl! Where or where has my little Gilbert gone...where or where can he be?
  17. "The eyes have it" I have to agree with gcav: I think most MAs have eye gouges. I would only recommend them in a life or death type fight because you're looking at exessive force issues.
  18. This is what iIhad tried to get started on the "conflict thread".
