The Martial Athlete vs. the Martial Artist
47MartialMan replied to Hanzou's topic in Health and Fitness
Now, to answer your question, yes. By your definition of what a martial athlete it and what a martial artist is, the martial athelete will definitely have a significant advantage. But his definition has some "biased overtones" based upon specific meanings to have one overcome the other. -
Hah, I thpught mine was as well. He uses these and other things around the house. Makes us wear tight clothing. Throws sugar water in our faces, etc.....

hung ga
47MartialMan replied to jctkd's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
At my school, they pronounce it "hung ga" even though they spell it "hung gar." I know a bit of hung gar. I like it. Dunno what taekwondo is like, though, so I can't really compare. Ask if you can sit in on the class. If you like what they're doing - go for it! Or Huhng Ga -

Careful, some think that the Japanese are a culture of copy cats that taken Chi/Qi, among other things, and used it in their own fashion. How's that? And I am speaking of people that think a lot of things that "aren't" so Jap, er Japanese. -

Ok, I was using the word Japs, not as insult, but shorthand. There is another word for them if I wanted to cause insult. I apologize if I had offended any here. So, you have misinterpreted want I was trying to state-again. -
Again, How did I post it originally? Did I use "of" or "to"? So how do you understand/interpret that? Pick out the correct one and I give you a explanation.

Instructing kids is certainly different from instructing adults who can recoginze when they are progressing. Some adults need motivation as well. That is why the "Black Belt" is so "coveted". (At this point I imagine a choir of angels humming to a most "high") Kids NEED that visual confirmation that they're doing well.... Not really, a good teacher can motivate and confirm in many other ways. But I guess that this won't have them "profit" as well. If you'd like to criticize, feel free...I don't have to answer to you (thank goodness, I'd probably never get anything right then!). Yes, I feel free to criticize. Ok, so the school is a business. No problem. But why keep "raking" in cash for work that the students already earned and paid for via tuition? I teach taekwondo because I love it and want to share it with everyone I can...not because I want to please people like you. Good for you. You please me by teaching something. But, I am going to hash the other areas.
