I have heard that it could be used for "puffy" or "swollen". What about zhan? Or Zhai? Or Zheng? -

Punching vs. Kicking....

But, if you got into a real confrontation, your "mind" will perhaps forget about the shoulder. -
Yeah, if you burried the gun, another weapon would be used. it is not the weapon, it has not trained thought or concious, it is the brain behabnd the hand of the weapon. A least with firearms, a smaller, weaker person has accesible and easy power to defend

The Martial Athlete vs. the Martial Artist

I meant the ones you see on Television that perform those feats. Good coordination, strength and conditioning in general. Yeah, I figured what you were saying. I just wanted to "throwe in" something for a reponse. -
Any links to XMA-not XMAS!

Yes, though the only one of those that isn't simply a different anglicization of the Chinese (the great thing about standards is how many there are) is "Bauguazhang", which simply adds "zang" (also "chuan") which means (IIRC) "boxing". Thanks for the post-it seems that you are informed. -
I wouldn't necessarily put it that way...often everyone will pass abelt test because the instructor doesn't let anyone who isn't ready test to begin with... Not so, they will pass to keep the student happy. A happy student is a "satisfied customer". If it deals with kids, "little Johnny" wants to keep up with "little Billy". but you have the basic idea. If everyone is always ALLOWED to test and pass no matter what, if the focus is always more on attaining the belt than on training, if hey are charging for every little thing, including different levels of instruction, if they are guaranteeing black belts in a certain amount of time, etc...there's really no well-defined criteria, but generally it comes down to the focus being more on making money than providing quality instruction.... How true and how much it happens. Now a lot of people get carried away with this accusation. An instructor has every right to charge what the market will bear for instruction, cover his expenses, ad make enough to provide for him/herself and family. The problem comes when there are charges for every little thing, and they get progressively more expensive for comparitively little gain... Well put

Nice story....very honorable -
Lagging a bit aren't you? Hey, did you have to join the plaid, triple stripped, 7 star, polyester belt club in order to test? What does your school charge for that? I thought my school was pretty resonable... after I got the second mortgage, and picked up a second job it was a piece of cake... Jeez dude.. I'm the owner of the joint. You know, this is a labour of love for me. All the money is ploughed straight back into the club, and I'm living from hand to mouth. I do it for the love of the job and the faces on the wee little children. Anyway, gotta go, my Jet is waiting to take me back to my winter home in the Bahamas. It's ok, I've left my highest ranking 2nd in command in charge, 13th Dan Great Grandmaster Ruler Mystique Smith, he'll be back right after his mum's changed his nappy!

But, given the literal translation of Ki in Aikido, could this be against Christian beliefs? -
