  1. Yes, NO Dirty fighting... Just SPORT fight and REAL fight.. what isn't allowed in Sport Fight is perfectly legal in a REAL Fight lol
  2. That's Not likely to happend... im not saying "imposible" but the chance you learn MA (good MA) by yourself is one in a million..
  3. He fought many people while he was alive.. he even defeated the Judo Great Kimura, the same man who defeated Helio Gracie. Maybe he felt his Karate was best because he beat masters of those styles. Several of them.
  4. I don't think there's a real "traditional" martial art left, at least not that can we reach easily. Most of the Arts we train now have come from modification of even older styles..
  5. I like Seminars Much better.. I like Sparring but not too much in tournaments, but training Sparring to learn and correct your mistakes, etc...
  6. Hey, that's Nice Congratulations.. I hope you have fun there.
  7. I don't really have a problem with that as long as the person is Prepared for surch responsability and also counts with the credibility of other martial artists and head organizations. As long as it works. Does really matter how its called?
  8. It's just a name he made up for the Show aspect of the UFC.. What he really do is normal Judo/jiu-jitsu...
  9. Im a Snake... I don't like Snakes, but seems like my personality fit with those things. lol
  10. You know.. I feel its better, if you want to train two styles, to take one striking style with a grappling style. That way, you won't confuse because those are to separate things.
  11. Kyle-san took the words out of my mouth. Its good you wait for some more time to have even more solid basics and then, if you have the time, money and energy, you can start to attend the TKD school, Is going to be confusing at first but youll manage to do both. Maybe the only thing that can be problematic is that both schools are on the same area, so they may go to the same competitions, and if you want to compete, you'll have to choose ONE school to represent. Thats the problem i see when you train in two school that attend the same Competitiions.. but if you arent into Sport, then you won't have any problems.
  12. It depends... If its a Japanese traditional Jiu jitsu, its mostly a mix of everything, but with little sparring. If its Brazilian jiu jitsu its mostly ground work and sparring with little stand up. but of course, depends on the School and the instructor.
  13. 70% female muay thai students!!! I'd like to go there to train lol But surely I may be too distracted
  14. Now, I DO like the UFC today as well, but in a diferent way. I don't see it anymore as a Style v Style as it was in the beggining, but as a Contest of People v People. I feel that the fighters of today are much more better prepared physically and technically than the figthers of the first couple of UFC's But the competition is now Far away from Martial Arts and is more like a WWF pro-wrestling TV show without "worked" matches (despite i've heard that Pride DO have worked Matches as well as real ones) Anyway, Martial arts was first something just for a few people, warrior breed and with time it was developed for all people to train in. Then again this New MMA move is only for a few people who have the time and the physical, atletic attributes to endure several hours of training in diferent aspect of fighting for the goal of making money and fame and prove themselfs. And that's something that most of regular people can't do. That's why i consider UFC/NHB and the martial Arts diferent things but linked together.
  15. I DO.. Im even Smaller than you are 5' 4" lol All i can say is... train to be REALLy flexible, workout to be as strong as you can BUT most important, Work on your Techniques, learn Tricks, and try to out-smart your oponent, relax and think.
  16. I've watched UFC's from the beggining, first couple were Style v. Styles competitions and they were about martial arts Now i feel its not more a "Martial Arts" contest and also I don't call the people who compete in UFC "martial Artists" I call them modern Gladiators or just "fighters". If you read most of there Bio's, interviews, etc... they couldn't care less about martial arts. They are Pro-fighters who are making a living on those shows and training people for them. Martial arts are a tool for make them better fighters. If you read about them carefully, many of them don't have much martial arts training, most of them are Boxers/Wrestlers, The martial art still trained heavily is BJJ, SOME kyokushin karate.. , since Muay Thai is a combat sport just like Boxing, wrestling. Now, Im not saying its NOT effective, Of COURSE its effective. Im just saying that NHB/MMA/UFC competitions and Martial Arts you train in your next door Dojo aren't the same anymore.
  17. Good Post... My nick is submssionfighter but i don't believe the only way to win a fight is to take it to the ground, in fact, i feel its way too dangerous... I feel that every Art can be effective if you know how to use it. I Like Traditional martial Arts, but i feel No Style is really complete. Point or No sparring, three step sparring doesn't do much for real combat training which i feel should be done as real as posible without hurt eachother in class and Kata in Many schools i just an exercise since nowbody teachs you the real and logic applications and how to make them work and under what circunstances. And also, im not a blind believe that just because you do MMA/NHB training you are going to defeat every single person in the planet. Then i can consider myself a "Progressive Martial Artist" but i respect and learn for others.
  18. Yes, im agree, you can clearly see those animals moves( tiger and crane) in the advanced Katas.
  19. Hi, Good idea about the Privates, I'll ask him. Maybe he won't say No just as long isn't too hard or too extensive. An hour a week sounds good enough. But I still need a new School, i have an idea since i've trained Shotokan karate for a couple of years (that was my first style) and also TKD, Kickboxing and just a Little Kung Fu and Judo. So i have an idea about what i have around. We have a Combat Sambo School which isn't not too far from I live, but i've heard its expensive. Anyway, Thanks for your advices and your support. Im still open to heard more ideas.
  20. But also because of my body type, I can also be a credible Mario of Donkey Kong
  21. I make a good PAC-MAN !!! lol
  22. hey, My style was a mix of elements from Taekwondo, Hapkido, Boxing, for stand up And combat Grappling for the ground. Besides that, i have trained in kickboxing.
  23. Hi, I recieved a phone call today from my Instructor. He says due personal reasons who involves financial situation, home and healt problems, He'll quit teaching martial arts. So now, I'm homeless and since what we have been working is an hybrid style I don't have another school who teaches the same, so If i want to stay in the martial arts, i need to find a New School to train and start ALL over again... Those aren't good news since i was very happy with my current training.
  24. hi, Check out this Page https://www.geoffthompson.com/ He's a self defense teacher and writer and worked as a bouncer so he know about real life martial arts applications He also sell books and videos.
