  2. Thanks for the advice, Im going to take it easy for a few more days if it doesnt improve then I guess Ill have to visit the doc. Im getting training withdrawls. Hey I could work on my punching this week!!!
  3. Our dojo doesnt require board breaks either. We have done breaking periodically as a confidece builder and to work on focusing a technique. I must admit when I had to break that first board it looked like a whole tree to me, now its just a little piece of wood.
  4. This may sound a little dumb, but Ive never pulled anything quite this badly, how do you know when you are healed completely? Im at the point where I dont feel pain but it feels like I have a giant Knot in the muscle. Should I start to stretch carefully or give it a couple of more days? Thanx

  6. Hi Jack, I dont know what others do but I generally just try to relax as much as possible and think about nothing let your mind go blank. There is no one there, no job, no kids, no wife just lots of deep breathing and drown out everything else I dont know if you consider this meditating, but it certainly relaxes me and reduces stress. I only do this for a few minutes Im not into long term nothingness
  7. Ive tried extra stretching, warming up,warming down, stretching before and after training. I pulled another muscle its the big one on the top of the thigh near the hip and downward. Does anyone have any helpful remedies on speeding up the healing I have taken almost a week off of training and it feels better but not quite rite around the hip area. Has anyone had the same problem? I guess Im just getting old .....
  8. If I were really being attacked my first defense is the chicken-Run-do (run like hell) Seriously I would keep it simple and effective left to the head right reverse punch followed by a right front or sidekick to the groin, stomach or head if you are more flexible than me ( I prefer staying low ). To try anything fancy probably would not work for me. Fortunatly Ive never had to find out.
  9. Fight taller opponents!!! :brow: Wear a cup accidents do happen, when people get tired they dont kick as high, no one would intentionally kick you there in the dojo.

  11. Thanks guys, I guess my problem might be me not trusting my control while attacking as much as when I block. Ill try to loosen up a bit and get a little more agressive. I have no problems getting hit and and am usually fearless in taking a hit. I also lend to no have this problem while sparring the Sensei since I know there is little chance of me injuring him. Guess Im just a head case
  12. Hi guys, I have a rather unusual problem. When I spar I tend to hold back and be too nice in fear of damaging my opponents. I know I take karate and the whole idea is to do damage, but I cant figure iwhy I do this. When I attack the air, target pads, or do pre arranged fighting I turn into a screaming ninja death machine but with my opponents I tend to just block and mildly counter. Am I the only one? Alright Angus let me have it Ill hike up my skirt
  13. I too am sorry for your loss. I have been completely ignorant to the damage that bone to bone contact can cause. I have been told by many people that it is a good way to condition your forearms and shins to build up bone density. I guess it is just a myth among many others out there. I will try to minimize the unnessesary banging in the future. Thank you for sharing this important info. [ This Message was edited by: shotochem on 2002-03-19 19:34 ]
  14. Now I really feel old!!!! I used to love that show
  15. PC, the person they granted the visa to was no other than Muhammed Atta and another one of the terrorists that flew the martyrdom express into the WTC. I believe that it would be quite difficult to not know he was a terrorist and that he is quite obviouslly dead. This is a fine example of gross incompetence. Its about time people become accountable for their actions and in-actions.....
  16. What is wrong with the system when 6 months after these 2 @##%%@#Terrorists slam planes into our towers and the INS grants them visas for flight school :kaioken: :kaioken: :kaioken:
  17. When they put that evil deranged women in prison I really hope they put her in with the general population. I would be amazed if she would last 40 yrs. It would be a short life imprisonment. There is no mercy for someone that kills their children :kaioken: :kaioken:
  18. I bought the CVS store brand its half the price!!!!
  19. Hi KC, Iread this thread and thought I would give you an update on my experience wtih Glucosamime. I started taking 1000mg of just the Glucosamine Sulfate about 2 months ago. I found no noticible improvement at first then after about a month I felt myself loosening up easier. Its been 2 months and now Im seeing a greater difference. My flexibility is improving quite a bit. Ive gained a bit height on my kicks and dont click and grind as profoundly as before (though I still do). Im not saying that it is miraculous but it has made a noticible improvement in me personally. The only complaint I have is that it can give you stomach upset if you dont eat before taking it and that if you alergic to shellfish be careful you could get an allergic reaction. As for bloating and weight gain, Ive actually lost a few pounds since I started taking it. I dont think it caused it though. I hope this is helpful.
  20. ROTFLMAO!!!!!
  21. A warmer room helps you loosen up easier and stretch more effectivly. I know Kickchic will give a more detailed explanation. I also believe that it helps with your conditioning. Its working out and training youre supposed to sweat....
  22. KC, you know how I feel about it
  23. As long as its still fun and challenging I just keep raising the bar on what my goals are. I found that I could do alot more than I thought and I want to see how far I can go. Though sometimes I dont know whether Im coming or going or where. Ill let everyone know if I ever do.....
  24. Youre right most people dont have all the ingredients around.(I work in a chem lab ) Vasaline is a good substitute do the chilli peppers really work I never tried them before
  25. Hey Kickchick, heres the official recepie ..... Tiger Balm recipe: Ingredients: % by weight amt. needed for 56oz. batch Menthol crystals 20% 9.6 oz. Camphor blocks 32% 15.36 oz. Bees wax 20% 9.6 oz. Petroleum jelly 4% 1.92 oz. oil of clove 8% 3.8 oz. oil of cajuput 8% 3.8 oz. oil of cinnamon 8% 3.8 oz. ( optional)ammonium hydroxide 1 oz. Melt beeswax and petroleum jelly in a pot until completely liquified. Remove from heat, quickly stir in camphor blocks (may help to chop or grate camphor). Add rest of ingredients, stir until consistent, and camphor has melted. Pour into permanent container, and let congeal. The above recipe will make a nice tiger balm equivalent to the commercial white stuff. If ammonium hydroxide is added, it turns red, and adds a little more heat to it. There is no substitute for the real thing. Use the Ammonium Hydroxide but do not use more than 1 oz or 1.50z or you might get a rash if you have sensitive skin. Enjoy
