  1. Best of luck. +Keep us informed. OSU
  2. Your perserverance has finally paid off. Congratulations.
  3. Agreed. But it seems a bit far fetched that this person would have already had BB experience in a previous art. I mean, there only 13 right!
  4. "Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu MACHADO" by John B Will, "Advanced Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu MACHADO" by John B Will, I borrowed these from one of my senior instructors, (at karate, hehehe,) but it taught me more than I was expecting about first contact, ground game, the dominating positions. Quite basic, but very good.
  5. Very informative, And that definantly puts a different perspective on the matter. Thanks for the info. Cheers.
  6. Id go traditional-Thai if you can find a legit school. Thats just my opinion though.
  7. Good point about being well rounded in ones movement Sauzin. Nice post.
  8. I agree. IMO-The respecting your superiors part of MA's is a part of self-growth, in regards to learning to respect oneself, others, and the world. Military is quite different i think.
  9. Thats very true. When watching, you can tell a lot of time went into the fight sequences. It annoys me how they hav him jumping through hoops though........literally.
  10. True, I had a better look through the mag today, and was pleasantly surprized. The stuff on exersizing is pretty straight 4ward. But the nutritional info, and the how to apply this nutritional info to my life was good. Made me think twice when at the supermarket counter this evening. Damn, I reeeaalllyyy feel like cold stone.......but the nearest one to where Im at now is 13 hours by car.
  11. Exactly. Thats why, IMO, it takes years to gain BB in hard styles of martial arts, even if students have all the required techniques down, theres still the element of bodt-fittness, and body-conditioning. IMO, the people looking for 'majical methods' get very shocked when they start to train in an art with body-conditioning, and realise that there is NO quick solution to toughening ones body.
  12. The UFC ref's are getting better though, most of the time, if not much is happening in the ground game, ref's are tending to stand the fighters up more often, and more quickly. K-1 is still better IMO.
  13. Oh, I wasnt implying that someone else was having a go at Kyokushin. I wanted to make a point about any given style, and instead of using an art where someone else may have taken offence at my comments, I simply used my own art. (Not my own art, but the art I train in.) When others said that Hapkido contains a multitude of moves not suitable for tourament situations, I just wanted to add that, IMO, almost all styles of martial arts have multitudes of deadly techniques not suitable for tournament situations. Cheers.
  14. Hehehe. I do this when I fight against opponents who are stronger punchers than I am. Just crack them with a knuckle punch inbetween the bicep+tricep on the outer arm. Works a treat for taking away an opponents speed in punching. Osu.
  15. Fist Of Ledgend is one of Li's best i think. I love his movies where he is just coming out of his teens/early-twenties. Fong Sai Yuk is definantly my favorite. In the USA it might be called "The Ledgend."
  16. Aye, some Shaw Bros films are pretty cheesy. I like to watch them though. Early Jet li movies are a must see. 'Fong Sai Yuk' is a good example.
  17. OngBak is a pretty decent movie, but I think that Tony Jaa saw too many BruceLee and JackieChan movies as a kid. The movie has no relative story value, and is really just a chance for Jaa to strut his stuff.
  18. Ummmmmm......... Have you not seen Zatoichi?????
  19. I agree, there is no need for supliments if one eats and exersizes correctly. Good sticky thread. Nice links. Cheers.
  20. A big organization/school is not neccissarily a McDojo. Its the teaching methods and BB production lines which make them McDojos. There is a karate school local to me which runs one of those 'little ninja' programs, and pumps out BB's like theres no tomorrow. I call it K.F.C. Karate Fundamentally changed for Children.
  21. BTW. Cold Stone is great!!!!!!!!
  22. Picked up the mag today, its pretty interesting, but there is a bit too much fashon for me. After reading it I wanted to go and buy shoes, not train my abs.....anyways, it was still an interesting read. Ive still had no luck in finding the Ultimate Abs Guide 2005, the best ive found is the Ultimate Musle Building Guide 2005, which retails for AU$60!!!!!!!!! Ill keep on looking.
  23. Im sure you can get chukkas with LED lights in them now, it wouldnt be hard to make the same sort of setup in a Bo made of clearPVC or similar. Good Luck.
