  1. Glad you got it checked out.
  2. For sure, I can make myself sweat from performing one kata, once. I think it has to do with the amount of effort you put into the kata in its entirety. Osu.
  3. Not in Oz anymore, It was on a couple of years ago at like 3 in the morning.
  4. 40cent, just got your pm, and will reply to it shortly. Osu.
  5. I put no. The way I thought of it as I was putting in my poll-option was: If any two or more persons attacked me or my family, id have no problem belting them with the closest thing to me. Be it keys, a beer glass or even a can of softdrink. As previously stated,
  6. If im thinking what your thinking of then, One is a Gim, a non-floppy double-edged blade. the other, A taji sword, a floppy double-edged blade. In appearance, the only difference is the thickness, and brittleness of the blades, however, the wielding of the weapons requires quite different manipulations I would assume. I dont do kungfu/taichi, so this is the extent of my knowledge. Hope this helps.
  7. 99 Seriously, If your in the US prob' 21, depending on the state. I dont live there so I cant give you info. Check out your local laws.
  8. Yeah, I think teaching them outside of a proper class is not a good idea. People can get hurt, and theres not a lot for you tofall back on. Bring them to your dojo, and show them that they will be treated as any other student. Only 2 out of the dozen friends ive brought to classes ever ended up taking training seriously. And one of them changed to a style more suiting him, after getting a proper taste of the arts. Good Luck.
  9. Dude, I agree with the above posters. Dont do any stretching untill you feel your back has recovered. See a Phisio/Doc about it . Your spine is quite integral to the movement of your body. And slipping a disk or similar will not be a joyous occasion. Best O Luck.
  10. Nice links. Also, Kobudo translates loosely to: Old-way. (Ancient way.) Or, the way of old.
  11. 40cent, me and other peoples compete in non-kyokushin tournaments regularly. I dont know what state your in, so if your interested just give me a private message through this site. Rules are very similar to kyokushin, but minor changes like no thigh kicks. Osu
  12. Martial Law. Its basically Walker, but set in LA, and starring Samo-Hung. Hehehe.
  13. Tokaido are good. I think the heaviest youll get is a 16oz canvas dogi though. At least thats the heaviest ive seen.
  14. Bruce Lee brigs up some really good points in his books about the above points. (except the movie hustleflow thing.)
  15. thats the only cure. Keep training. Im sure theres a way you can tailor you diet to your needs. It might mean cutting out some pleasure foods though.
  16. No idea about non-profit. But I was thinking about this, and Im sure that any Kyokushin organization inyour local area will be happy to arrange joint knockdown comps with Shotokan. I can imagine the adverts in BBmagazine: 1st EVER official Shotokan Vs. Kyokushin Knockdown tournament. Throw in a title like; "Trans-Atlantic Titles" to agin more peoples attention.
  17. Ha, get a Kyokushin karateka opponent with a crisp-new-1st dan belt, and Id be weary, as this means they just recently completed the 40man kumite, so can prob fight well in a tournamnet.
  18. Thats what it sounds like to me. Like what a jab is to a straight-cross.
  19. Haha, Walker is a kicka$$ show. Martial-Law with Samo Hung is pretty good too. But still, its a TV show.
  20. Because, even though it was a situation instigated by the drunkard, the MAist 'should' have had the restraint to end the situation in a less blood-thirsty manner. A side kick to the face is not really self-defence, its a full-blown attack aimed at damaging the opponents head. As well as the fact that the mAist didnt use enough control to at least only stun the guy, he sent him through a shop-front-window. Again, not really self-defence. More like malicious damage. The guy was drunk, like 'cant bearly stand drunk', he prob would have fallen over and knocked himself out. No need for that kind of attack. IMO, self-defence would have been to get the heck away from the situation, by means of going to a different part of the club or otherwise. If antagonizing persisted, or the MAist was not able to get away from the situation, a simple leg kick, or stomach attack would have been suffice. As for being banned from the dojo/club, Would you want a ranking instructor, teaching your art if he was convicted for malicious assault/damage, simply because he did not have enough self-control to contain himslef at a local club? I guess they thought he was really looking to get violent with the other guy. I dont really know.
  21. Knees are a sweet all rounder IMO. In Kyokushin we cant clinch, so have to rely on breaking opponents arm-guard to get knees in effectively in a tourny situation.
  22. Good Idea y2_sub, Its probably a lot harder than people think to get these events off the ground. I mean, even the proper insurance to cover all the competitors and officialls is expensive, so it might not end up cheaper in the end anyways. You could not purchase insurance, but in the case of full-contact comps, theres a definant chance someone will sue for a bad injury.
