WHO WOULD WIN IN A TOURNAMENT?
Vito replied to RONIN W's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
true as that is, they still have no real fighting experience, and jet especially hasnt ever trained for actual fighting (read his bio). all the moves in the world dont matter- its actual fighting skill. and im not dissing wushu so much as saying that it will not teach any of its practicioners to fight... the only preparation it would provide is getting one into better physical shape. -
hahahaha! aw man, thankyou. i am so tired of these * guys talking, puttin their arms out wide, yet each is too afraid to do anything and they walk away like theyre tough. anyway...

I like throwing a flurry of punches, mostly at the head/neck area, until they go down. If you get a chance to push-kick them (only when it's safe- kicks are dangerous to throw) or break something, that's good too. Still, nothing's as easy to hit as the nose; and one of those with another good punch gives you enough time to get away or severly damage your enemy.

jackie chan only manuevers crazy because he has coreographers and fifty takes to get it right. real fights are completely different. -
no... two bones joining or coming tobether or whatever has nothing to do with this. and yea, keep training, lift heavy (but not too heavy) and youll get there. and yea, im a man.

i think what youre talking about is the part of the quads that doesnt reach down to your knee (two muscles actually). if you want to target that, target the entire leg with squats and legpresses, make sure to push with your HEELS not with the balls of your feet. also, lunges tend to work that area great. odds are, though, that youre just not big enough to see it yet. i wouldnt worry too much- just go for size, itll all show up eventually.

i dont know who the people are after the first two... but lets get somethign straight here: jackie chan (as well as jet li and most people like him) can not fight. they have no idea how to fight. they do wushu, which, lets face it (at least for jackie chan) looks like * on camera even. id take on jackie chan any day and win- he doesnt know the first thing about real fighting. (acting too, but thats another story.) -
well thats actually why i like the fingerless gloves... theyre a lot like a real fist. as a matter of fact, last night i went about 40 minutes straight on the heavy bag (after a workout...) and today i can feel it in my first two knuckes just a little, right where i should.

oh yea, youve got plenty of time for that. just dont do something like benchpressing the day before you do bagwork, or dont work out legs the day before youll be working a lot on kicks- things like that. the day after a good chest workout, you wont be able to throw puches like you normally could.

Yeah, pretty much. The traditional styles that people actually take seriously tend to become a life style, as well as a "complete system" in itself (allegedly) so doing do is redundant if not impossible. At least thats how I understand it. (Im a MMA guy.) -
yea, australia goes pretty far... they even banned grand theft auto 3 because of the games content. cencorship going too far, perhaps? and while im at it, * the aclu... what good do they do? they help a robber sue someone for shooting them in the very house he was breaking in to? * off with that *.

very true, very true.... crunches are better for the abs anyway- they hit them harder and more consistantly.
-
whoa there- there arent any techniques against a gun unless you also have a gun, or are right in front of the guy and its not pointed at you yet. none of us are in the matrix.

if you wanna do something, do it. but know this: if you want to teach them a lesson, it wont stop at anything less than seriously injuring them. they obviously carry guns, youre not going to get it off the street (lets not kid ourselves about the reasons you want to take them on, either), and its very dangerous. if youre okay with all of that and feel like risking it, wait a little while, like a month or more, (opportune moment, once the let their guard down and forget about you) and take them out. but dont think itll just be a little brawl everyone goes home from.

Inverted situps are great for your abs, but not really necessary. It'd probably be cheaper to use weights on them (leg lifts and crunches on your knees, whatever those are called) with a cable crossover machine. Those two ab exercises have worked great for me. That is, assuming you go to a gym.

deadlifts and goodmornings are not fine for your spine. every doctor specializing in lower back stuff agrees with me. you may not pull a muscle or something like that, but you will be doing long term wear and tear; and it is likely youll pay for it later in life. im not talking about immediate injuries, im saying ten years from now, twenty years from now.

yea yea... they still wanna take away our guns.

boxers and gloves

holy crap you guys... lets just try and make this clear and easy. if you consistantly bareknuckle a bag, no matter what crap you put on your hands before or after... you will end up with messed up hands. dit jao, bengay, cow *, doesnt matter. you bare knuckle a heavy bag enough, you will suffer damage to your knuckles. if you think otherwise, youre an idiot, dont say you werent warned. -

That's some good stuff. You could also easily vary that into chokes or different things while kneeing them. -
getting hit with lowkick

You've sparred k1 fighters? Cool! Everything everyone has said is pretty much on so far... so I'll just add that experience helps. Like many things in life, the first time hurts more than the rest. -

You guys seem to miss the point- a lot of use of a heavy bag still damages your knuckles, doesn't it? I don't think the old guys had heavy bags like we do these days. Dit jow, tai chi, or whatever other mysticism oriental thing can't change alter knuckle damage either. I don't know about you guys, but I've found my fists conditioned just by doing bag work with gloves on (I also like the fingerless ones, though I've used all kinds.) That's not to say that my knuckes are hard as rock or anything, but they're perfectly fine for punching someone repeatedly, which is really all I care about. -
I'd say power is the most important of the three. Without it, on the street, you'll fall to someone who does have power because huge guys almost always win against the small guys. A lot of martial artists hate to admit it, but strength matters (that's why there are weight classes.) After that, I guess I'd take speed, because accurate or not, whatever, I just want to hurt the guy.
