if by kenshin kan you refering to Musumura Seito , keep in mind that the foot work is the key. Fukyugata is a standard kata but your style is so unique that i advise you not to mimic the foot work of the Fukyugata you see on youtube. the best thing if possible is to ask a higher rank to do the kata and film him/her.

Yes but rarely , he is very far from me.

Myth of the Forrest Griffin Arm Bar Break
P.A.L replied to tufrthanu's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
an armbar results in a dislocated elbow or shoulder, i don't think he can fight effectively after that, while i have seen people continued a fight with broken bones or dislocate fingers. -

you are teaching a kata to a total idiot and he asks "are you sure about that move?" -
Is my Sensei being unprofesional?? HELP!
P.A.L replied to Charlie_Shodan's topic in Instructors and School Owners
if i was you: 1- I would forward all his emails to my personal email address 2- I accept his apology 3- I leave the school 4- this is the hard part, I would tell the story to my wife/husband -
so tell us what you know about it.

check CANON S3 or S5 great cameras with good videos. the lense is awsome.
-
IMHO you shouldn't do this, unless you leave this sensei totaly and practice in the other dojo for a while .
-
in a traditional dojo some people may pay less than others or even practice for free due to different reasons, when it comes to a karate club it should means everybody is responsible for the cost of the rent and equipments.

change the school it's not a big deal if you are not happy, i think Kyokushin karate or Hapkido would intrest you more, but remember what you asked for, more intense means more chance for injury and some of us can't offered that with our jobs. we had a surgon he broke his hand and was off from work for 2-3 months, I had to work with a broken fibula because i have a business to run and it took a year to heal.

don't worry go for it. i know many, most of them doing great because they are more consistent.

it won't happen in a short period of time, it happens naturally, sparing helps

How many kata or forms to reach Shodan
P.A.L replied to smckeown's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
That's cool. How long did you stay in the system? Why did you get out? Howard High is a 6th Dan and my Sensei is "only" a 5th Dan but I think he's quite good (though I have nothing to compare him to) except I think he's a little *too* involved in the whole Shindo Jinen Ryu thing in that (as I had complained about in another thread in a different part of the forum) for a while he would go away too frequently for my tastes to teach at/participate in this thing or the other. But, he seems to have managed to keep his butt here for a while and either my "complaining" to him worked or the other aspects of his life have managed to settle down... so I'm a lot more content now and he has started to make better arrangements with his black belts to fill in for him when he will be away again when he goes to take two of his black belt girls to the Konishi Cup World Championships (which he will apparently also be teaching at the Gassuku (sp?) beforehand). yes i remember your thread, i am glad things are getting better for you, I didn't like the kind of karate that Darrell Craig teaches,it was too rigid for me,i was there for a year and he promoted me to 4th kyu after 6 months, one day in the class he said "i don't care and i don't need to remember your name before you stay for 2 years" i left the next day. i prefer a softer style , the only kata i really liked was Seirou. and they didn't like the way i was doing katas in high stances. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Di5ZZieam_c i was not able to transform my okinawan shorin ryu to Japanies Ryubokai way.finally 3 years ago i found the sensei i was looking for ,out of no where and it's been great since then. -

Well... Thats because it is Shindo Jinen RyobuKai. As for Sanchin... I dunno its just what was in the lil booklet I was given... maybe it was added by my Sensei or something (though that seems unlikely)? ::edit:: I did some looking on youtube and you're right... Sanchin doesnt seem to fit in too well at all. Wonder how it got there on the list? Have you ever bin in that system? (have only seen one or two in this forum in that system) yes i used to practice at sensei darrell craig's dojo but the most knowledgable Ryubokai sensei i met was Howard High http://jinmukan.com/modules/sections/index.php?op=viewarticle&artid=3 -

sounds like shindo jinen ryu-RyobuKai but what where you got Sanchin from? -
it 's wonderfull that you have a good teacher, there is no rush in training, take your time, i stoped thinking about ranks, most likely i'll never test again, but i won't stop learning. as for kicking, we don't even have kicks over mid section in our system. stretching is good but again don't rush it, in our age what we don't need is a pulled muscle.

Good posts,so I only give you a practical advice, make your hands stronger, from where i come from ,free style wrestling is part of the culture, our coaches allways say " you lose when your hands stop working", We do push up and more push up.

Martial arts with trapping (next to Wing Chung and JKD)?
P.A.L replied to Mtal's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
part of Okinawan karate is based on chin-na, mostly in Naha-te. -
it won't effect your training, and there are 2 good medications for this problem available if it insists, my mom got the same problem from her mid 30s,last time was 4-5 years ago, thanks to new medication. don't worry, keep us posted.
