Yes but i dont see a need to hold onto something only because its old. If they were still alive i bet they would have changed those Katas by now, adapted them. Think about it.

Yeah sparring is out i think, dont think that would be a good idea. Beer sounds good. ummmmm.....beer..... Anyway i think wait till its warm and it would be nice, makes sence to me to make a day of if people are travelling a long way. Start in the afternoon in london at some nice riverside pubs then eat and more pubs then clubs.

Beer beer and more beer. Have you got a better idea? sounds good to me.

Dont appologise. No Problem my fault as well. Why didnt you say you were from HK. HK girls are the best!

I think Ironberg that was his point. Its more like a work out. Come to my MT gym and you will get a nasty workout that will leave you feeling bruised and battered for days. oh and yeah ..as a side effect you will sweat alot but you might have a heart attack as well. I have a freind that does TKD and a while ago took him on the pads and gave him a Thai style work out. One Round QuiKohnCain will know what i mean.

Good point Ironberg. Im 6 foot tall but my frame allows me to punch like a monster, my kicks are ok and i have really good knees. I guess frame and size makes a difference.

I dont take supplements really but i would stop if i were you, if it hurts it is likely your body is trying to tell you something. I would take Cod Liver Oil, its not as man made as what you are taking and may work better as well. Try it i always do i i get injured and it works wonders. Its not fancy but it works, thats all i care about -
To thai boxers

I understand and agree to a large extent but i would have a hard time kicking the cr@p out of some 18 year old drunk who wants a fight and wont back down but is in all fairness a nice guy otherwise. If i could deal with it more gently i would. I have had enough knees and elbows to myself and sparred so damned hard for so long now that i really have no interest in hurting others unless its needed. -
yeah but its easy to get carried away.

I find it hard to belive that the risk of infection is high, why would it be higher than any other operation? But what do i know, speak to your Doctor if you are worried, I dont think anyone on here can give you the correct medical advice unless they are a doctor. We would just be guessing.

I wonder how many others doing Karate think/know the same?
-
I work on a basis that kicking is 5 time more exhuasting than punching. I thinnk unless its a round house to the head the straight punch to the head is more effective.
-
One word of advice, if you go full contact dont do too often with head punches or only a couple f rounds.Keep those brain cells!
-
Thats good, the way it should be. I think Kata is like pre-set shadow boxing.
-
Why cant you change them? Is Karate static?
-
Hey everyone check cymry's web site!
-
yeah i dont get Katas either, ive read all the arguments and they still defy logic to me. But it doesnt matter.
-
LOL your right warlock its a very basic dscussion and maybe not worth having but hey, nevermind.
-
yeah that Ong Bak, alot of the stuff is old style Thai but there are quite alot of things that are changed for the movies and arent original techniques. I think thats just for the camera. The rigidity wasnt quite accurate and the stance was completely off. Dont look at it too closely although there are many authentic techniques.

The whole point is punches vs kicks, one or the other. I would choose punching, if could only have one in a fight.
