Best: Thinking - working your noggin' is just the best thing for you, period 2nd Best: Swimming / pool aerobics - seen enough reports to know, this beats everything but skiing. Worst - Skiing - A fantastic exercise, but the injury rate is just too damn high to make it worth it. 2nd Worst - Running - unfortunately, two of the most popular exercises are also two of the worst for your joints.

Well, i'm feeling reasonably content with my purchase, although would like to toss this out, seeing as i've never actually purchased this kind of... stuff... before, and am not inclined be a poser. I.e., did i pay reasonable prices? I still have a receipt and can return those items i payed too much for: http://newbery.org/alan/text/regimen.gif Unsuccessful, so far, in finding ZMA. From my studies in the past few days, this is what i've found to be my regimen: Creatine Intake Creatine Regimen Cycles - 2 months on, 1 month off Purchased approximately 65 days worth Creatine first three days - 20 grams per day w/water Creatine subsequent days - 3 grams / day w/water Creatine postworkout - 2 grams w/grape juice (approx 60 gms dextrose) Daily Supplement Intake Whey protein - 60 gms / day (powder shake) - 15 servings purchased (hmm... need to buy 4 lbs more) Multivitamin - 1 tablet daily Flax seed oil - 2000 mg / day (two capsules) - 100 days supply Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) - 300mg / day (one capsule) - 90 days supply Amino acid complex - 1000mg / day (one tablet) - 50 days supply Niacin - 50mg / day (half tablet) - 400 days supply Melatonin - 3mg / day at bedtime - 240 days supply Extreme Stack (fat burner) - 2 capsules / day - 45 days supply Critique away, assuming you want to.

Footwork
White Warlock replied to wack's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
I generally like to practice outdoors, or in rough terrain, and have found gliding to be detrimental under such conditions. Shuffling, not so much, but full-stepping ensures you place yourself cleanly, as opposed to tripping over variations in the terrain or short-changing yourself due to elevation changes. Yes, this differs from standard training, but i don't expect to get into an altercation in the dojo. Regardless, i do train to glide and shuffle when indoors. Elsewise i expose myself to a sweep and provide too large a window of opportunity for other exploits. -
Footwork
White Warlock replied to wack's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
A right cross... crosses, so you would have your left foot forward. There are a multitude of ways of punching, but the quickest is to punch without stepping, the second quickest is to step while punching and the least (and most telegraphed) is to step before punching. As to which foot steps, depends on what strike you're implementing. As a 'general' rule of thumb, if you are right handed, lead with the left and vice versa. Some systems reverse this and others aim for neither being the lead (i.e., wing chun). Even others, such as boxing and san soo, try to train you to workout both as a righthander and a lefthander. To simplify, there are no set rules for stepping, other then ensuring you do not step with your heels and do not lean too far forward on the balls of your feet (ending up virtually on your toes). Stepping is committed to ensure you are centered when striking, so that you do not under or overcommit. If you have to lean back to strike, you're too close in and need to step back or to the side. If you're having to reach to strike your opponent, you need to step in or in and to the side. -
fitness items??
White Warlock replied to zerolimitii's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
I have a pair of those and... i hate them. In order to use them, i have to put on my shoes and wear shin guards (okay, slight exaggeration with the shin guards, but only slight). Those things are vicious if you make a misstep, and i'm not much of a masochist when it comes to staying fit. I like to exercise near or on the beach, so being forced to wear my shoes while jumping in sand is, well... annoying. -
Boxing vs Judo
White Warlock replied to MMouse's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
well, i have. Those who specialize in boxing tend to choose different comfort zones. Some choose to fight high and outside, while others choose low and inside, etc etc. More advanced fighters are able to change their game plan according to their opponent, but this is generally based on the fact they had sufficient time to review their opponent and understand his/her weaknesses. Judoists also tend to choose different comfort zones. Judoists tend to specialize in an average of three techniques, mainly because, unlike a boxer, they don't often get the luxury of previewing video clips of their competition opponents. If those techniques find comfort when dealing with a specific boxer type, then the judoist will have the upper hand. If we were to run on averages, i would say that a judoist has the innate advantage, in that if they get a boxer to press, the boxer is brought to the ground, and positioned out of their element. -
I don't think you quite understood me. I said you 'should not' paste it in its entirety. An excerpt means to grab one paragraph, or part of a paragraph, and post that. Providing a link isn't about 'style,' as it is about legal issues. Following international copyright laws isn't about style, it's about keeping yourself from being smacked around like a kitten in a chicken coop. If you still don't understand me, PM me.

Thank you WolverineGuy for that link, and all others for the input. I have a few remaining questions, for any and all that can answer them: 1. Xenadrine, is that a brand name and, if so, what's in it? 2. What's your daily intake of Xenadrine? 3. ZMA, is that a brand name and, if so, what's in it? 4. What's your daily intake of Xenadrine? 5. Flax seed oil... daily intake? 6. I don't suppose anyone knows a natural source for glutathione? 7. Any diet (food) recommendations to accompany all this for a focus on strength/speed building, while avoiding fat building? Clearly, i'm not a bodybuilder or a nutritionist. Thank you again for your expertise.

Having never taken supplements (other than vitamins) during my workouts, i would definitely like to hear from some of you on what things are recommended for muscle build / fat burn.

White Warlock replied to Rich67's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
yes, and that story could have been quite different it "all" of the thieves exited the car, instead of just one. Not quite sure what the point was with that story. -
It is not often you will find a parent who will put his/her overlarge child into a martial arts school.

MMA
White Warlock replied to Sho-ju's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
I wish to clarify. When i stated MMA, i wasn't referring to exceptional champions that participate in MMA competitions. I was referring to Mixed Martial Arts practitioners in general. The stated norm, not the exception. -
OK,, has anyone had this experience??

Bad hygiene is not always the impetus in such things. -
What happens to your muscle when u get hit?
White Warlock replied to Topic's topic in Health and Fitness
Yes, there's small area almost in the center of the front of your thigh, slightly to the outside, that when it gets smacked, can get the leg to stiffen for a time. Hit it real hard and it can stiffen for months. -
Dealing with highschool
White Warlock replied to TheDevilAside's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Those who think they're hotstuff in highschool, end up growing up and finding out thier slumming on the side of the street as an adult. Take comfort in that. The punks who rhino their way through hallways, or act like tough guys, thinking their all hot, invariably grow up to find that they're unemployable. They end up with the jobs nobody else wants. Yes, there's nothing to gain by taking offense to the idiots in high school. If you know they're not packing, or that they won't be packing in the near future... determine then if it's even worth it to escalate the 'distractions' that exist in this educational institution. You're there to learn, to gain an 'academic' education, not to gain a fanbase or strut your stuff. Keep this in mind. As to the kid who keeps high-pucking it, talk once again with the coach. Go so far as to state that the kid is supposed to be on the same side. If you really don't like his activity, make a formal complaint or bring it up to your parents' attention so they can follow up on it. But, in all things, keep your perspective. Don't go entering into a battle that just isn't worth it. As they say, choose your battles wisely. Oh, and stop trying to be such a tough guy as a response to others trying to be tough guys. Testosterone flows in only one direction... up. -
HELP! DID I Just get Ripped Off!!
White Warlock replied to 1fastmx5's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Some of the most successful martial art franchises get rich off people's ignorance. Yes, get your money back. You're in an area with a good variety of 'skilled' instructors. No need to get suckered in by a mcdojo. -
