  1. LOL good strategy, welcome to KF.
  2. Welcome to Karate forums
  3. Hi, welcome to KF
  4. All of them have a girl... the first has the high society girl, the second has the okinawan girl and the third has this pot-maker girl.
  5. I'm not a big expert in Kempo/kenpo but I'm sure that the issue of being kenpo a karate style is controversial. Not all kind of kempos resemble karate... some are more similar to kung fu. Anyway to be more general I should have included in the answer as a separate item. I confirm, the topic is about Karate.
  6. Best luck for your double grade!
  7. Happy holidays folks see you next year
  8. You mean the kickboxer is laying on the floor?
  9. Take both then. Just joking, but not much since I'm currently training in 2 martial arts. And I think aefibird is already cross training WC with karate (ok she does shotokan but anyhow).
  10. Yes 80 votes are quite a lot! (up to now) Anyhow many people voted others, so I could have added more alternatives. Maybe I should have added Kempo as a separate item but then there is this controversy if kempo/kenpo should be considered a karate style or a different MA. Probably many votes under Others were for kempo. Sorry for my rambling.
  11. Hi James, welcome back.
  12. Hi and welcome to KF
  13. Probably it was because my school was inside a gym and most of people did not actually train for competition. We had only one or two potential competitors (the school just opened when I started).
  14. I can give you my answer but is biased because I do Goju ryu and I know wing chun only from books and discussion done in this forum... But ok, here it goes, Goju is quite a complete system it is mostly a striking art with quite some grappling in it, good for long and also for short range fighting, it has kicks, punches, open hand, elbow, knees strikes, grappling, locks and ground fighting. It is a traditional martial art (like wing chun), it has forms, maybe is not the fastest way to learn self defence but after a while becomes quite self-defence effective. Anyhow my advice is, and I'm sure many people on this forum will agree, visit both schools see if you can have a free trial lesson, get a feeling of the art, of the quality of the teaching and the atmosphere you breath in both schools... what may be good for some people it may not be good for other people, go and see, and get your own personal answer to this question.
  15. I visited the site and it contains a lot of useful stuff. Very good
  16. So aefibird do you know about WKF world championship? Your nation came second after Japan and in front of Italy and USA. (ok still the third place is good ) I made a thread about this in the Sport Martial Art session.
  17. I would like to annouce the results of WKF world champinship of karate held in Monterrey (Mexico) in November. See website http://www.wkf.net/html/world.html. Italy came 3rd after Japan and GB and in the same position of USA.
  18. In Italy my dojo is associated with FILJKAM which is connected to WKF
  19. Your last statement is very true, a couple of weeks ago a kyokushin practitioner (although I don't know what her level was) came to our dojo (light contact karate style) to train and could not finish our strenght training exercise routine. I think that the trainig intensity is independent on the style and it is very dependent on the dojo.
  20. Step forward in Sanchin dachi then morote chudan uke
  21. Yes, so now is 64. He's the living proof of the physical benefit of MAs
  22. Welcome to KF. Osu!
  23. About the same experience but the first week they start to go over the technique as solo, from the second week drills with partner... after two/three months light contact sparring and conditioning drills, after 1 year you can go gradually from light to moderate contact, after 2 years, but I haven't reach that point, you go full contact.
  24. Good luck then... keep us posted.
  25. Here are some of my favorites (in left foot forward stance). Jab,cross, left round kick ,right front kick. Jab, Jab, cross. side or round left kick, spinning back kick. two right front kick, faint a third right front kick and jab the face.
