  1. Well, I certainly have never heard of trying to get someone as new to it as you to use it for such an advanced purpose. But I have used it for minor injuries. More intense injuries were usually treated with acupressure and acupuncture with my first master. At your level, we usually focus on getting you to use it for breath control, focus your energy, and as tufrthanu said, to protect internal tissue damage from attacking blows.
  2. Well, I was about to reply to this, until I remembered you take KSW, and thus you already know what we do.
  3. Already a lengthy thread on this topic in MA in Politics. http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=7742&highlight=age+black
  4. Moved to the "Getting Started" forum. You can find a lot of answers in here as well.
  5. I'm not saying it's not true. But why would anyone leave somewhere they're getting paid millions to go through choreographed fights, to get paid thousands to get into real fights?
  6. Welcome to the forums. Nice avatar.
  7. I've only seen it pulled off by my 8th degree master. But we don't study Dillman. Joint locks can be tricky in those professions. If their pain tollerance is high, as SevenStar mentioned, you'll be in a tight spot since you might get into trouble taking the technique into the destructive application. If you're allowed to use destructive force on the technique, then pain won't be as much a factor, as they won't even have use of that joint.
  8. I hope he's in his 50's, to be proclaiming that many belts. Is the "Ju" for Judo or JiuJitsu as well?
  9. Congratulations. I heard the schools up there were pretty good. Waaaaaay too far for me to drive, though. I can only manage to drive to Mahopac, NY.
  10. I agree. Focus on becomming the best YOU can be. Don't let the negative thoughts interfere with your training.
  11. Yes, zigy, she is. However, if all you're doing is posting photos, we have a photo album to post pictures. http://www.karateforums.com/album.php If you're not starting a discussion, please post your pictures there.
  12. 6'1'', 205lbs. Mostly in good shape, but could loose about 15lbs worth of body fat to be optimum.

  18. Not as many as I'd like.
  19. About 20 minutes of stretching (http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=6186), and then all my forms in "low" stance. Good cardio and good leg strength training. I like to alternate days with some upper body strength training on the bench as well.
  20. Haven't heard about a streetfight. However, I did hear where he got promoted to like 8th or 9th degree in Aikido about a year ago. He might have a little more mass around his center now, but I've seen some guys in Aikido do quite well even with some extra pounds.
  21. I prefer elastic, just because the tie always seems to come untied durring techniques practice and sparring.
  22. I train with someone that failed on their 2nd degree test. The master doing the grading said, "I know you're better than that", and told them to train harder for the next test.
  23. Yep that's it. (Sah Mah Gwi) We also use it as a strike, with the wrist (Ko Gwuhn (sp?))
  24. Not in Kuk Sool Won. See the link for the terms as Kuk Sool Won uses them.
  25. It's reverse roundhouse in Kuk Sool Won.
