  1. Welcome to the forum.
  2. You have experienced a definate turning point in your training. At a point like this you re-evaluate how much you really want to continue. Those who have the heart of a black belt pick themselves up and keep going. And there are no maximum time limits to spend in any one grade. We all proceed at our own speed. I was a green belt for two years. Many of us have reasons why it takes us longer to attain a grade or why we work so much harder than our classmates to get there. It is our heart that makes the difference.
  3. This is also true of those entering the military.
  4. It takes some of us a while to catch on in the beginning. With me now it takes me longer to learn and properly remember new katas than it does my younger classmates.
  5. I have worn the 10 oz pro force blend gi and gotten the same amount of snap out of it as classmates in the heavier gi. It is really a matter of preference. With the material being the same weight it boils down to what kind of waist band you like and whether or not you want do deal with shrinkage.
  6. Let's remember to keep the discussion sensible. And not to advise anyone to create more problems than the one they are trying to solve.
  7. A ton of posts on an MS forum. I have a tendency to go follow up on the links to articles everyone mentions.

  9. I will not say it is my least favorite kata but Jiin is my least favorite kata to be doing while sensei is stopping frequently to talk at lenght. All that time getting caught in shiko dachi.

  18. I have to agree that Bassai Dai really emphasizes hip rotation. And the jump in heian godan is actually not a leap for distance put more of a straight up in the air jump.

  21. It isn't really the amount of resistance as much as the pace.
