OOPS LOL Bitseah. I think we all make mistakes like that at time. You know what I did. I was thinking it was the 19th not the 13th. I had the holiday right though. You see my Moms birthday is the 20th. And when I sent the card I made this silly comment about her birthday and mothers day being on consecutive days. :bdaybiggrin:I deserve a dunce cap too.
I have to say that I am definately impressed with the literacy and the relish than many read with. I am looking at A Book of Five RIngs again. Some things take many looks to really begin to digest don't they.
I started my set with a pair of handles and a few plates. Gradually over time I added plates 4 at a time. Then the curl bar and the tricep bar. I never did get a straight bar. Did not want the temptation of benching alone and getting into trouble.
I have a few canes. And I actually use them. Comes in right handy for keeping balance on uneven surfaces. The special one I have with the crook large enough to go around someones neck is a bit heavy. So I carry my old beat up one.
I think the higher areas of light intensity correspond with the areas of high population density. That was a really cool link Kickchick, Yoda. I put both in a newly created folder in my bookmarks "cool stuff".
G95 after thought I have to agree with you on developing a good knife hand. However I think the thing I "murdered" the worst when I first attemtpted it was crane stance in rohai.
Good luck to you. I remember my last brown belt testing. Shudders. That was the test where half the kids started barfing and other assorted things. Please don't share germs before testing time. Good luck.
I remember the statistics a while back on where members are from. And 5 continents where represented. South America being the continent lacking in representation. At least visitors from there are coming in. And probably a few members who have not identified their location.
I have read Shogun and many of the other Clavell books as well. There is a fictionalized acount of Miyamoto Musashi you will probably enjoy as well. I forgot who wrote it though. Check the Library under Mushashi.
I recieved a link to this last september. At first there was only a minimal response. I am not sure since then how the response has been or the quality of the respondees.
Did anyone see the show on the history channel of knives, axes and swords? I thought it was really interesting. It will also probably show up eventually on discover or A&E or the Learning Channel.
With the pre-testing process my school uses test failures are rare except for those who beg to test regardless of wether or not they are ready. If somone has a problem at test they are given another chance to do the technque or kata right then and there. If they still cannot pull it off there is a make up test until brown belt level about a week or two later when classes reconvene. We run on a quarter system with one or two weeks off between quarters. The time system was originally set up to match the structure of some of the year round schools in one of the areas classes were held.
Hiya a lot depends on the teaching philosophy of your school. Some start forms the first lesson. Others build the basic skills in drills first. You didn't say what style you are in.
