    Back Kick

    Much practicing of the kick will strenthen the muscles you are using for that kick. It seems to stress the stabilizer muscles in a different manner than other kicks do.

  10. Most test failures I have seen were the result of the person going blank and not being able to perform or not being able to do the required breaking. We did pretty extensive pre-testing though.
  11. How can you make a proper fist with long fingernails?
  12. Make a stack of bricks and lay a board across the bricks. Add more bricks and boards building levels on the unit. Basic shelf building at its simplest.

  15. Mine is sort of a hybrid now. I have upgraded it so much about half of it is mine.
  16. It is much easier to find things if they have an assigned place and everything is put up in its proper spot.
  17. Please read the guidelines for the comparitive styles area. The idea is not to discuss what style is better than another but to discuss differences/similarities/merits of one style as compared to another. If the discussion is not kept to those lines the thread will be closed.
  18. More time in training and more repititions of the kicks. You need to work the basics and work them a lot.
  19. I knew when mine went. And I never did get full range of motion back.
  20. Only rehab exercises designed for your by a physical therapist. Continuing to use a torn rotator cuff just prolongs the process and makes things worse.
  21. You cant beat the 1930's classics where you had to use a bit of imagination to appreciate what was going on.

  24. For some sparring is practicing what they learn in katas and drills to see if they can use it a self defense application. Can you block a punch if someone throws one at you? Can you handle a kick if someone tries to kick you? Just one aspect. There are many others.
  25. My preference for the sai began as I began to work with it more and it started to feel like an extension of my hand. It would be kind of like the claws of the shotokan tiger.
