  1. Hello, and Welcome
  2. It would take years of experence to create a new style. It is not impossible, different syles have been adapted over the years and changed many times. After 11 years of experence, I'm not sure that you have mastered your styles to create a new one. But........ if your trying goodluck
  3. Just to add another thing there is ABs, you abs are your power house, if you have weak abs odds are you will have back pain. All the power from kicks and punches starts at the ABS through the hips and into your target. Also Dips were let out, they are awesome for complete upperbody and back. Stretch lots too this will help keep you back form being sore. I'm sure there is a previous post addressing this.
  4. My first tourny was a WFT tournament. (I train ITF) I was a yellow belt at the time and won my fisrt sparring match. During the second match I was kicked below the belt twice, I then gave him a sidekick to the face which knocked him down. (at yellow belt level you are not allowed to kick to the head). It was a tie at the end of regulation but the decision had gone his way because my kick to the head "was a bad kick". Anyways, it droped me down to the Bronze metal match and I ended up wining bronze.
  5. Be warned of any scams and emails asking for $ was reported on the news here, but I will be donating to Red Cross or Unicef.
  6. steveb, I got the some raindeer lol, great gag gift
  7. The game was great, Ashlee Simpson got booed off the stage for her crap preformance, (she should have lip sniced !) Being a ND fan, congrats to all USC fans, and we'll see you next season. Return to glory starts now for ND.
  8. I can see that, I'm a good fighter....but when it comes to teaching...eeak, I'm not comfortable with it.
  9. Yes gymnastic are useful when it comes to balance and strenght, however they are not very to useful in a street fight. Maybe to run away or to get off the ground. A side kick to the face or stomach is quite effective form the TKD point of view. More examples are, a cresent to knock a knife out of someones hand, roundhouse sweep would work, fists, elbows and knees to finish the job. My rule of thumb is Keep It Simple. When I think on mixing MA with Gynastics, it is done for show only
  10. I have notice one thing about where someone comes form, if you have nothing growing up, you have nothing to lose, if you have everything growing up, you have everything to lose. The reason why people believe that growing up in the "bad part" of town is better because it shows a person has had enough self modivation to overcome poverty. If you had two atheletes that were fighting for there lives and they were the same size, weight, strength, but the only differance is one lives in a poor part of town and one lives in a rich part of town, who would have more modivation? My anwser is the guy from the ruff part of town because he has nothing to lose. It happens all around the world, sports, musicians, business people, self made people....etc. I do train in a bad part of town. We have less equipment which makes us work on basic technics. In the past 4 yrs of competitions every person competing has won (top 3) in sparring. It ultametly comes down how well you learn from somebody and how well that person trains you.
  11. I agree with delta1, I would want to meet up in a dark alley with any champion/contender from UFC. Steet fights also have things like multiple people, guns knifes and other weapons, things not used in the ring. Most UFC fighters would be capable of appling their style to fight on the street if they needed to.
  12. In my experance, some people start MA to achieve a black belt (only a slim percent achieve a black belt at my club). In my opinion a black belt is defined as: Opposite of white, therefore, signifying the maturity and proficiency. It also indicates the wearer's imperviousness to darkness and fear. Most people don't achieve a black belt because it takes a lot of time, work and sweat. Some people want a black belt but don't relize that they have to earn it. If standards are not met by the instructors it should be enforced by the governing body that they teach under. People who strive to be the best and perfect within their art are the people who bring home throphies and metals for National, International and world Events. Belt advancement should be "by the book". Sure everyone is different in skill, but it is a false sense of security to have achieved something that hasn't been earned. I'd bet on a "by the book" green belt over a medioker black belt any day of the week.
  13. You never know who's at the other end of these ads. It could be someone that is buying into a scam. If you've learnt from a master and are at a distance then an unedited video seems appropriate. Personally I want my instructor to be there when I test.
  14. I look an the mid section of the body, lots of powerful kicks come from the hips (sidekick, cresent, axe, roundhouse) but I've also learned to keep my head up for punches.
  15. Very nice to read, thanks
  16. Good stuff, I personally would have had a job lined you first but you did the right thing you should have no problems finding a job in your field. Goodluck, and I hope your carreer seach works out for you
  17. Man, I've been there, I understand how hard it is at your age to try to understand women. A couple of things to try are, 1) talk to them...yes like you talk here.... sure we all make arses of ourselves at one time but don't take it personally at your age. 2) Don't be desparate, I had a buddy in College that couldn't get a girlfriend because he was desprate. He just needed to relax and just talk to women and not try to go down south right away. 3) RESPECT, everyone has personal space so back off when told so. Do on to others as they would do on to you. I am 26 and am Married...I have yet to figure women out. (That may take several life times) lol just relax and be yourself
  18. If you can, please help out with donations or aid to the many countries devestated by the Tsunami in Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Thailand. If you feel the need to donate please visit the following web sites: http://www.emergencydonations.gov.lk/ https://secure.unicef.ca/forms/emergency_page.html http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2004/12/28/canadian-tsunami-aid041228.html I am not asking you to donate to these particular causes, find a charity that will help to rebuild these countries. We all love our freedom and way of life, so please help those people that have been devestated by this Tsunami. One last thought, what would you do if you lost everything, including your home & loved ones ?
  19. My Christmas was great, I did get what I wanted... a new dobock. I didn't want too much, I don't need a lot of stuff but got spoiled anyway. I got mostly gift card and certificates which I like because I can get what I want
