  1. As for new cartoons, Oblongs are pretty funny, and so is Futurama. But THE funniest cartoon is Family Guy, if you haven't seen it, you must watch it if only for the evil talking baby.
  2. All due respect to Bruce Lee, it is probably just an exaggerated story. He probably did kick a bag into the ceiling, but as the story travels the bag gets heavier and heavier. Typical Urban legend, perhaps.
  3. You beat a pro wrestler, COOL! Someone messing with your girl always seems to give people that superhuman strength. I think it's cool you got to use it. I held back when it happened to me a darn near went insane, literally.
  4. I haven't been exposed to it nearly enough to form an informed opinion. The first and only time I've seen it was on the movie "Only the Strong", but you cant base an opinion off a movie.
  5. Do other styles use other titles?
  6. Saddam Hussein and George W. Bush meet up in Baghdad for the first round of talks in a new peace process. When George sits down, he notices three buttons on the side of Saddam's chair. They begin talking. After about five minutes Saddam presses the First button. A boxing glove springs out of a box on the desk and punches Bush in the face. Confused, Bush carries on talking as Saddam laughs. A few minutes later the second button is pressed. This time a big boot comes out and kicks Bush in the shin. Again Saddam laughs, and again Bush carries on talking, not wanting to put off the bigger issue of peace between the two countries. But when the third button is pressed and another boot comes out and kicks Bush in the privates, he's finally had enough, knowing that he can't do much without them functioning well. "I'm going back home!" he tells the Iraqi. "We'll finish these talks in two weeks!" A fortnight passes and Saddam flies to the United States for talks. As the two men sit down, Hussein notices three buttons on Bush's chair and prepares himself for the Yank's revenge. They begin talking and Bush presses the first button. Saddam ducks, but nothing happens. George snickers. A few seconds later he presses the second button. Saddam jumps up, but again nothing happens. Bush roars with laughter. When the third button is pressed, Saddam jumps up again, and again nothing happens. Bush falls on the floor in a fit of hysterics. "Forget this," says Saddam. "I'm going back to Baghdad!" Dubya says through tears of laughter, "What Baghdad?"
  7. 25 minutes isn't a long drive. You should do it if only to me well rounded as a martial artist. But honestly you'll have to worry about situations where attackers will try to pick you up, or use their weight on you. Jujitsu will help you defense these things.
  8. My poor thread.
  9. Just do an art that doesn't have you rolling around with women. Simple as that. Although I hardly feel sorry for you at all. In fact I would want as many females as possible in a Jujitsu class! "oh, no I'm in a triangle choke, Help!"
  10. Keep Stretching everday, and practice your kicks everday, although I gave you a short "how to" the results don't occur overnight.
  11. I was just curious I have heard 1st dan referred to as Shodan, 2nd Nidan but I have also heard the terms Shidoshi and Shihan. Could someone give me a list of the ranks and titles?
  12. If you think they can take it, dont be afraid to kick to the head or face. I'm not saying fight lower belts as hard as you can, but if you are getting hit hard, hit hard right back. In my opinion it is okay to occasionally go to the BODY a little hard on an opponent who doesn't respect your kicks. It helps them to realize the mistakes they are making can cost them in a real situation, also not to take advatage of you holding back.
  13. Just Curious, could someone tell me what goes on at a BJJ belt test. For example it TKD. We begin with Katas, then 1 steps, basic strikes and blocks, sparring, and/or Breaking. How are BJJ's test formatted?
  14. Emmanuel Lewis "Webster" is a dwarf and he is a blackbelt in TKD. It doesn't seem like the right art for him. If I was a dwarf I would take Jujitsu or another art that didn't focus on strikes. What MA are you taking IDMC?
  15. Interesting points you make valid arguments, but I still dont agree
  16. I think he did something, Ive heard rumors that the girl needed stitches. If that is the case then he's gotta go. I don't care much for his arrogant personality anyway.
  17. Leave it alone, chances are in the next year or so, one or both of you will be leaving for college anyway, and you dont want to be one of those guys that misses out on college girls cuz he's got a girl at home.
  18. I you do hook up, then go to another school b/c I see the whole thing as being VERY akward. Do you even know if she's seeing someone. It's probably not something she would share with a student!
  19. Wow, I'm arrogant in your opinion. Let me tell you something about yourself. You also make contradicting arguments. If the belt doesn't mean anything then why is it so important for me to take it off?
  20. Honestly, I think the only thing would be small differences in practice methods, technique applications, testing requirements, traditions, katas, philosophy, grapples taught, aerial moves taught, sparring. You know just a couple of differences.
  21. What do you have against TKD, I mean seriously your posts seem to be taking any available shot at us. I know you said not to "bash TKD", but I'm speaking of your posts as a whole.
  22. It takes a lot of stretching and a lot of practice. Start by including a stretch for the front of the quad. You may have to do it on your own, many schools don't teach it. (Stand in a forebalance, and step forward with the front leg as far as it will go, if your left foot is forward, put your right hand on the ground to put weight on the quad.) Do that and practice kicks at home. If you also practice at home you will be much better in the long run than people who only train in the dojang.
  23. Respectfully, I do not agree. I spent lot of time and effort into getting my black belt. And I won't take it off for anyone. If I decide to supplement my knowlegde with another style then that itself is a sign of respect. And the instructor should be glad to have a Black belt representative from another style in his class. I would readily embrace the humility of a white belt as one should, but I would never wear that belt again, ever.
  24. I wish I knew Japenese. I would call out the name of the moves as I did them. In sparring I recently started using (outside knife hand strike+inverted inside knife hand+ridge hand) works well in an open stance
