I wish our classes were structured that way. I am one of three Black belts in the class excluding the instructor. And the rest of the class in white-green with one brown. We either get stuck doing the basics, or teaching, I would rather get started on more advanced moves.

It is possible to have real life heroes "vigilantes" but the reason you dont is because once you become a vigilante you begin walking the tightrope between what is legal and what is not. I would personally like to be there to catch anyone trying to harm children, I would give them the greatest beating known to mankind. And for dessert they could have a nice curb sandwich.

They need to bring back Yo MTV Raps and put it on for 2hrs like they used to. Direct Effect p--ses me off because they cut off the videos halfway through.

For those of you who dont know what a pet peeve is, it is something that annoys you more than anything else. What my pet peeve is, is the "corporate executive" type people that think just because they have a little more money they're "better" than you. Personally I give EVERBODY common courtesy, until they give me reason to do otherwise, maybe that comes from martial arts. But sometimes I see those kind of people acting snotty towards "commonfolk" and it just burns me up.

They shouldn't have done that, Little girls idolize Britney and do everything she does. They should have realized that before they did it. Now parents are having to explain homosexuality to elementary school age girls, it's just irresponsible!

Sano, I want to help you out, it seems that others pick you apart because of how your posts sound. I get the idea of what you are saying I just think it sounds rushed. Treat this like you do martial arts, be patient and think carefully before you write... Is English your first language? BTW how old are you if you don't mind me asking?

All that is good but please dont be complacent with knowing how to stretch as an overweight person. The 90lbs over has got to come down a little. Are you running at all? (no offense meant at all)

Sounds like "love" is affecting your progress. Class time is not the time to have your head in the clouds. Easier said than done though I've seen Thai women before!

AIKIDO is what I'm trying to get my girlfriend to take because it shows different ways to subdue an attacker that tries to grab you, which is the situation most women may need the self defense for. TKD could also be useful given women's leg strength and flexibility. KUNG FU could also be a good art to train in given the depth of the art and the fact that women have faster reaction times (on avg.) than men.

I would try to get written statements from the children and present them to the police, and let them follow up. Personally I don't think I could contain myself if I saw someone talking to kids about worshiping the devil.

Look at it as an opportunity to stand up to the teacher and champion all the girls he seems to pick on. I've found that most "bullies" are like sharks, if they smell blood they go into feeding frenzy mode (Girl who can't speak English). But if you have to stand up to him, as long as you'rerespectful and strong willed he'll see that and back off a little, the girls will love it I promise.

Any beach in Florida, although I bet Hawaii is 10 times better. I'll have to dump my girlfriend b4 I go there!

Did you see the superbowl commercial where they guy was walking upright but the costume he had on make him look like he was walking on his hands. So he walks in and asks for a Bud Light, the bartender reluctantly hands it to him. All eyes in the bar are on him and when he takes a drink everyone is like .....EEWWWWW! Then the guy is like "Can I have a hot dog" and the bartender goes "I dont think so"

Speaking of Picon dont you think its stupid how he beat Frieza, Frieza's Dad, and Cell all with one strike each, but got scared when he saw Buu. BTW, DBZ had THE absolute worst ending I've ever seen.

First of all let me say that I HATE teaching little kids! Teens and adults are easier because while they may get bored doing the basics, they know the value of repetition and practice. Kids (5-12) get bored, start getting sloppy and if you spent too much time try to correct or refine one then the others get worse, or start playing. My instructor thinks it is very important to teach every day leading up to my 2nd dan test, but now I'm starting to hate going to class. Is there any strategies you all can suggest to keep them interested? Keep me interested?

If you like Muay Thai, try Shotokan it is very hard punishing style like that.

Another Ji do Kwan Man, that's what I like to see. That multiple breaks sounds killer, I dont think I can do it though, I'm not sure I know what you mean by "Scissor Kick"?

For all those against high kicks I say this.... Practice on your speed and flexibility because they are a USEFUL and devastating weapon. Common sense will tell you not to throw a succession of high kicks. You might catch him with his hands down outside of punching range, then what do you do?.... When the opportunity presents itself you have to be ready to capitalize on it and not limit yourself in any way. Okay whats the worst that can happen? 1. He catches your leg -if your kicks are that slow you shouldn't be kicking anyway 2. You're off balance -I've seen people with better balance on one leg than some have on two 3. He can sweep your leg and/or take you down -that can happen at anytime. Think about a football team that never throws down the field . The defense has one less threat to worry about so they stack the line, so the offense has trouble running the ball. Punches set up kicks and vice versa and if you dont kick, then all your doing is limiting your ability.

Black belt Mag is 25% advertisements for the latest videos. Every now and again they will have a decent article or two to read. I think those type of companies should do more to get MA further into mainstream culture.
