  1. 2 hours without a drink-break? If this happens regularly it clearly shows the instructor has NO IDEA! You should leave a dojo like that immediately. It is important to learn how to re-hydrate your-self by drinking regularly throughout the day, but with intense training, drink breaks are essential to maintaining a high level of knowledge retention - as well as being essential to the correction functioning of the body. I understand how some people can be a little soft, and every time it gets a bit tough - they need a break.. but this is different How many profession sportsmen, in any sport, play for 2 hours with no break? ... Last night, I trained for 2 hours. It was 35C with a humidity of around 80-90%. We had four 2-min drink breaks. Without those, no-one could have made it through the session.
  2. We have two fee structures. $7 a class. or $50 a month for unlimited training - up to 16 classes a week. (I'd like to see someone do 16 classes a week)
  3. I use a little bit of shadow boxing in my routine, but not as a way of keeping fit.

  6. Hey, don't knock Vegemite I love it!!! I've only had Marmite once or twice.. its not popular over here.. from what I remember its like a mild vegemite..
  7. Yes, I agree. In a weapons-free fight, Batman would win. I guess the car is up for debate.. but Bond has the better gadgets..
  8. Lets make this the best year yet! :D:D
  9. Depends entirely on why you train. Self-defence is often not the main reason.
  10. ...proportional to velocity squared

  15. Arghhh... people who don't know rugby Sounds like you'd be best suited in the forwards. I was a centre/back myself so I'm not too familar with the differences in the forward pack. I would suggest maybe "Number 8" or "Flanker" if you slightly prefer the running. If you like the scrums, then probably a "prop" or "second row" position would suit. All the best V (People who can't play rugby play soccer)...
  16. How about instead of clocks - you use something else in your argument. Like carbon decay... or an animal aging...
  17. G'Day :D
  18. Think you'll find it happens a fair bit in Asia.. although there are often religious backgrounds as well... Westerners tend to be to attached to their material possessions to appreciate the benefits of such a life.
  19. Well, I'm not going to say its impossible, because such things shouldn't be said. What I will say, is that I think it is incredibly unlikely that anyone can do more than 2 or 3 strong and powerful kicks in one jump.
  20. There are no fights in my school either.. These days bullying occurs in different forms..
  21. Hi Practice, To answer the topic question.. Do you pay a training fee? If yes, then the instructor gets paid. However, not all assistants get paid. As for qualifications, there is no set rule. One would hope that instructors are black belts in a particular style - however this is not always the case. In our style there is an accreditation system. As for maths I've got a degree in that.. not that it really helps my karate..
