Champ... You poor thing! You just wanted to have a thread about ridding the world of a couple of scumbags, and instead you got a long-winded political debate! Don't worry, hon, I think there are a lot of people here in favour of fireworks and singing, I just managed to drown them out.

I wouldn't actually know what anime music would sound like, actually. I've never seen a single movie or anything. I think for you it's different, since you're obviously quite focussed on forms etc. Whereas my club we do a lot of padwork and sparring, so it's a lot more casual.
-
Yes it did, and I can't agree with it. But just for the sake of not sounding like a complete devil's advocate, I will say that I am pleased they are dead. Not nice, but as I said originally, it is definately good for all concerned.
-
Good one. But I must ask, how much can you hear of nature in a settlement of humans??
-
That's only because you're a young country by the standards of other ex-superpowers!

Irritating though it may be, that's a very good point. Still, that doesn't make it any better. Even if written in a genuinely impartial and factual manner the American's would look good, as you were. I'm not trying to take away from what you did. But at least then it wouldn't look quite so much like you need to indoctrinate your youth in blind patriotism. For a country obsessed with free-will etc etc that seems awfully coersive.

Why, thank you Battousai! I like you too... My only supporter... *sniff*

Sh*t, I know what you mean. I keep on writing replies and then discovering that there are now so many in between mine and the one I was referring to that mine no longer makes any sense!
-
Oi, what?? I come from NZ... Japan probably didn't acknowledge our existance then! Anyway, it's not like you guys did sh*t until someone actually attacked you

Aue! He kaha a Aotearoa!

I won't make judgemental comments about the impartiality of American history.

Hmm. Interesting point. But then it gets down to definition of "evil", and who really has the authority to decide that? I suppose on a one-on-one basis, Saddam's sons were "worse". I personally got my back up over what I perceived as a direct comparison between "9-11" (I hate that that's a mainstream term. ) and the holocaust.

Oh, I'm not dissing drums. I'm quite aware that while it's easy to alright, it's difficult to be good. I just meant that as an instrument they are one that I have a knack for. Good sense of timing, I guess. Seriously, one of my best friends is a jazz percussionist, and that is complicated! (He's very good).

I've been playing piano since I was 5, so it doesn't seem hard to me. Now wind instruments... Jesus, they scare me! I mean, at least with a piano you can see what note you want! I find the drums quite easy (to a point), and other string instruments aren't bad, except for violin. Which I've never touched for fear of the sound I might make! Although honestly, I've played around with a double bass, which is the same theory, so I suppose I'm being silly.

At least I can spell "snicker"!

Oh, thank god, I'm not surrounded by trigger-happy patriots. I do try to keep a reign on my blatant anti-american racism... I have no problem with them as people (obviously ), but I've been brought up in contempt of your country and government, and I have yet to witness anything to change my opinion. Good point! Also, I wouldn't class anyone as "the most evil person ever", but he did set a nice standard.

Could somebody please explain the primary differences between a sports MA and any other MA? I recently started Judo, and I've heard that's called a sports MA because it's an olympic sport and there is an international standard. But so far it hasn't seemed any different to any other MAs I've practiced. Thanks.

Are you serious?????????? I'm horrified that you'd make such a broad statement. Sure, I don't know enough about Saddam to back up my statements, but I can't believe that you would dismiss something as horrific like WWII because you are fired up about current events. Jesus! Hundreds of thousands of people were killed, raped, tortured and experimented on during that war for no reason better than blind racism. In comparison to what? What exactly did Saddam do that is comparible to that mass slaughter? I severely doubt you paid much attention to what he did in the Middle East before your government started spouting their propoganda! Saddam and his sons are not good people but for god's sake, think before you speak. You don't have to agree with my opinions, but what you just said is ignorant beyond belief.

I have to comment that I think that it's not just the proliferation of instant-gratification products that is really screwing us up (although that's a big part), but also the expectations but on our youth. And when I say youth, I mean pre-pubescent, from 0-13. When you have a 5 year old calling her friend in the morning to see who she should talk to today, you know something's gone wrong. When 6 and 7 year olds are wearing designer clothing and they actually care about it! When (and this is almost the worst thing) 11 year old girls are wearing clothing that is only appropriate for an 18 year old on special occasions. And yes, when your 9 year old son spends the holidays on a playstation rather than a swing. I heartily disapprove of the way we are turning our children into adults at age 10. Goddam, when I was that age (not that long ago ), I wore overalls and spent all summer outside. It took my mother a long time to convince of the need to wear a top! Technology and the advancement of our society is a good thing, but not when it discourages innovative thought and active play. Fenris signing out.

Yeah, I suppose. I dunno, I didn't articulate myself particularly well. I think that it just stems from my opinions about the entire affair. While there were certainly good reasons to overthrow Saddam, the hypocrisy of the USA reeeally annoys me. But I'm not looking for an argument, although I've probably offended quite a few people with that. So never mind me, I'll just wander over here...

(I'm sure my laughter added immesureably to the atmosphere of this thread!)

You guys are nuts! (In the nicest possible way ) As for the morals of killing... See, I don't like trophy-hunting, that kinda p*sses me off. It really irritates me, I mean if you're going to kill something at least be respectful enough to do something with it!! Anyway. If you're going to eat it and it doesn't effect the survival of the rest of the herd/whatever, fine. If it's a pest, even better! But baisically, I'm just like Fireka... I read too many fantasy books!

While I'm as happy as anyone that the revolting b*stards are gone, I'm not sure what I think of an entire thread to celebrate their deaths... It seems a little sick. OK, I put that badly. Not attacking anyone here. What I mean is that yes, their deaths are certainly advantageous for everybody concerned, but why are we revelling in it? A death is a death, and not something to be celebrated. It may be a relief, but the ending of another's life is not something that we, as "good" people, should glory in. (I used the quotation marks because I prefer not to paint everything into "good" and "evil", but it was expedient to use that word in this case) That probably didn't make a lot of sense, but you get the idea.

I hear that. Pretty much covers my opinion... Although (but don't tell anyone), I do like some country. Yes, I'm scared too. Um, goddam, what's his name...? Sings "Solitary Man" It took me a while to finally admit that I like it and it's definately country. You're not sad! Not my primary taste in music but there's nothing better than diversity and in terms of classical music I have to say baroque and romantic are my favourite. Although I am partial to piano soloists, but as a pianist I'm a little biast!
