  2. I emailed Sifu Doyle asking about Irish stick and he said they are going to release a DVD set. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. http://www.geocities.com/glendoyle/bata/
  3. How does the Cane Masters system differ from your own system?
  4. Hapkido includes the cane as a part of the art, for those who study hapkido or cane what do you think of Cane Masters and there system? What do you think of there BoCane? https://www.canemasters.com
  5. Does anyone belong to this org? Has anyone ever seen it done? http://www.canemasters.com
  6. No offence was takken. I just don't want people to think that I'm interested in swords because I of Lord of the Rings or play roll playing games...which I don't. It's just more appealing to me then learning the katana...
  7. The Claymore is a sword. But you knew that. Do you ask the same question of karateka who study anicent weapons from another culture? I haven't seen Kill Bill but I do like Braveheart. A club recently opened that teaches medieval sword and other western martial arts of old and that is why I was inquiring. Thx for your post, it was great!

could also be used as grappling...grabbing the hair, twisting, etc.
  9. Your right, I was looking for western medieval weapons. Claymore, forge axe, etc. Not hand guns or atom bombs.
  10. Do you know of any trustworthy sites that sell combat ready, western weapons?
  11. Thank you for the rebuke o'sensei.
  12. Ya it does...take a look at mixed martial arts. You have two people that have spent the same amount of time training and the bigger guy wins. Peace.
  13. Very true. Have you seen Al Tracy? Even Ed was large...but Al takes the cake...and dogged it up!
  14. I don't think Ed Parker was a fraud but I do believe he sold rank in his system. I've seen too many so called "masters" that just are not worth the gi they wear...and they were graded to black belt by Eddie or his crew.
  15. I like many of them. Goju for it's hard body conditioning, and shorin/shotokan styles for there speed and movement. Kyokushin stands out as a combo of both but I think it's easly to add into your system a little from either.
  16. What’s the difference between Tracy, American, or Shaolin kenpo? idk but you still answer my question. have you heard that Shaolin Kenpo Karate is no good? I don't think American Kenpo is all that. What I've seen done anyway.
  17. What’s the difference between the many schools of kenpo?
  18. What’s the difference between Tracy, American, or Shaolin kenpo?
  19. I'm all for practise, but there comes a time in training when you have to make contact and take a punch. In the street you won't know how you will react if you take a hard shot. I'm not saying sit still and allow people to knock you out like they do in the Dilman camp, but spar hard and see what happens.
  20. Just practise. That's all. I like bring the knee up in front, if I were you I wouldn't forget that one. In shotokan it's about fitting the mold and that takes time.
  21. In general, no. I've been training in shotokan for 15 years and I say no. Without full contact training shotokan is just a self defence art.
  22. Any thoughts on American Kenpo? Most of what I've seen isn't that impressive. Just wondering what you all thought.
  23. http://verizonsupersite.com/universalkempocom/door/ Anyone know anything about this group?
  24. Side snap kick is useless...but kekomi is a staple.
  25. No offence to the author of 24fightingchickens or his devotees but all he’s done is switch Japanese culture for North American and in so doing proclaims the Japanese way as inferior. He’s doing the same thing that he accuses the Japanese of doing. ________________________________________________________ I've been doing martial arts all my life, shotokan for almost 15 years. I don't see myself stopping the study anytime soon. I've even picked up a cane to study for my old age.
